Josh Wesley's Ridiculous Goal Last Night

Nice lack of defense on that one.

Still good play by the kid and nice instincts to attack from the point. I like

Well, his father averaged 11 goals a season for the Bruins, scoring 77 of his 128 in those years. Of course that means he only scored 51 in his 13 years with the Whalers/Canes...

Worth noting for historical purposes that Glen spent a lot of his time with the Bruins as Bourque's partner both at even strength and on the power play. Playing second fiddle to perhaps the best power play point man of his generation DOES lead to more scoring chances than when you're stuck with the schlubs Carolina gave him for partners over the years.

And those years were before the neutral zone trap and left wing lock and all the other things that Jacques Lemaire brought to the Devils.

True ... those were the tail end of the go-go 80s era, that like most good eras stretched into the next decade a little. Wesley was a 19 goal scorer at one point, which is almost impossible to square with his time as the defensive stopper and halfway decent passer he turned into in his time with the Whaler/Canes.

Should also be noted that Glen ALWAYS had sick hands. Anybody who ever got a chance to see the guys from his time screw around with puck handling skills before or after practice can attest to that. He could make that puck dance.
