OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

"it's not hard to imagine graveman and nolin being part of oakland's rotation when they're contending again"

and

"brett lawrie is 25 and could pan out"

are not such compelling arguments.

They didn't get terrible "value" so to speak, but it's definitely a 4 quarters for a buck type of a trade. Billy Beane is forced into playing chess in a checkers tourney, so he ends up more concerned in Dollar per WAR than he is in raw WAR.

Also didn't help that Josh and Billy had some famous shouting matches I guess.

I've noticed Goins taking a lot of BB's lately but didn't realize how much it's been during August.

He has taken 16 BB's in 19 games in August for a ridiculous 24.6% walk rate which helped him to have an .875 OPS for August so far. Why the hell are teams pitching him like this, he's had a good eye of course to take so many but it's just insane, you'd think with the lineup the Jays have pitchers would be throwing it down the middle to the worst hitter in the lineup.

Good question. If Goins can maintain good discipline and hit just a little is value goes up immensely.

It has to be good for all of our lesser hitters to be surrounded by guys like Bats, Donaldson and Tulo. These guys are not just good hitters, but are cerebral hitters, and should have lots of wisdom to share.

Goins hasn't been the black hole he once was.

Big credit to the kid for getting on base in August

Would not have predicted this: #BlueJays' Ryan Goins has 16 walks this month, tied with Mike Trout & Ben Zobrist for 6th in #MLB

6 games back of KC and we hold the tie break, I say why not. BTW anyone look at the upcoming pitchers were facing in the Tigers series? Should be a fun weekend for the bats :)

Wasnt Houston supposed to be a sh!t team this year?

and not too long ago the Yankees were ahead of the Jays in the standings with 3 games in hand.

Last 24 games:

Jays 20-4
Yankes 11-13
