The Great Negotiator

It truly is remarkable how people were duped by North Korea & Trump into thinking this was any change in the usual state of affairs on the Korean peninsula.

To the point where some...unnamed people on this thread...were actually seriously touting the idea of Trump getting a Nobel Peace prize.

Before negotiations had started, even!

lmfao....you win:

the one wild card in all this for me is China.

It's unclear how much China is driving this process, and if Xi and KJU are in cahoots. They're definitely involved, I'm just not sure to what extent, and what the play may be. But much as I loathe their authoritarian regime (and crazy oppressive cyber-security measures they're implementing across the country, particularly in Xinjiang), I do think Xi has a pretty clear plan and seems to know exactly what he is doing.

But it's no secret that NK in many respects survives to the extent China allows.

Well, what benefit does China get from NK giving up its nukes?

And note that China just shut down trade talks with the US and sent the americans home with nothing.

senate judiciary dumped all kinds of documents today.

I'm unsure of the China play but I don't think it should be analyzed only through the perspective of nukes.

China likes having the NK buffer between them and the South. But it could be getting to a point where supporting NK is enough of an economic drain on the Chinese that they want it to stand on its own two feet a bit more. this is all just me speculating, not based on any authority.

I kinda see the nukes as the biggest and best bargaining chip. I doubt China actually cares much about NK having nukes so long as there is no threat to the regime. If KJU is able to ensure the survival of the family dynasty and sacrifices nukes to do so I could see China being on board with that. But I'm doubting more and more we even reach that point.

Hell, this could all be an elaborate set up by KJU and Xi to embarrass Trump and the US and make it look like their demands are ridiculous and extreme.

Fortunately I'm sure there will be several more plot twists before this all plays out.

However this all plays out, this is one thing I am pretty confident in predicting:

KJU/North Korea will not give up their nuclear weapons/ballistic missiles.

Being in possession of nuclear weapons is pretty much the only way an oppressive regime/international pariah can be sure that they're safe from outside threats. Give them up, and whatever assurances you're given that you won't be invaded or eventually end up as a victim of "regime change" aren't worth the paper they're written on.

lmao. their spin is getting even dumber, and dumber.

News: the Senate Intelligence Committee says Russia's interference campaign attempted to help Donald Trump in the 2016 election.

This affirms what intel agencies have said and contradicts the assessment of House Republicans.

the Republicans should be ashamed of how they blindly jumped onto the Team Trump bandwagon. spineless, the lot of them. not all mind you, but enough.
