Galchenyuk traded for Domi

Two seasons, 18 goals... This season, 20?

Lol.

Whatever, this doesn't improve the team, doesn't make it worse, I think we are on track for another top 5 pick.

Response A) Exactly we will not be leading in enough games for him to get that many empty net goals

Response B) He did have 18 his rookie year

I dont know, write tsn and sportsnet and ask them. They both say he was mishandled. AG was on the first line all year was he not? Leafs sucked and tanked for a few years and got extremely lucky in the draft. Now they are hockey experts on how a team should be built. What a joke lol

i was wondering where WeHave went

I'd feel a lot better about the trade had we got Arizona's 2nd round pick as well. Hard to believe he couldn't get Arizona to pony up something extra.

I'm wondering what happened to the MB of old that was seemingly able to squeeze every little bit of value in a trade.

he somehow has got worse at being a GM over the years

How do you trade Subban , Chevy and 27 and not solve 1 fooken issue on your team :shrug

Those 3 should of been the rebuild prospects/ picks not the shuffling of the titanic chairs

When you ask other GMs around the league the value of Galchenuyk, you realize that asking for more than Domi in this trade was putting an end to talks. But hey! You can overestimate the value of the players you like, that is your right #Habs #CH

yep
that is why you do not trade someone after a down year

That’s the tip of the iceberg from Franky
He claims that AGs dad was far too involved to the point that in between periods his dad was texting him as to what to do and that after games in Montreal the two were often seen having heated exchanges about the game

ahhh we are going with the boston bruins method of crapping on a player after they leave to make it look better

this is the key line:

The danger is that if you give up on every player who tests your patience, from Chelios and Patrick Roy to Subban and Galchenyuk, you end up with a cupboard full of players who simply aren’t good enough.

bang on

Useless thought I suppose, but I cannot help but wonder how my choice Patrick Roy would have handled talented guys who didn't fit the mold had he been invited to take the GM job instead of Bergevin initially? Given that Roy was one himself, and did quite well in junior with such players.....maybe in Colorado too, not sure. Bergevin on the other hand appears to dislike talent, maybe because he had little himself....I suspect also having a father who played during Bergevin's time is also a big plus in his eyes.

The reason this trade bugs me so much....

The thing about that milestone is Galchenyuk did it playing centre. He did it in a season where the games were basically meaningless, yes, but for a reason that will never be entirely clear, the Canadiens refused to see Galchenyuk as a centre basically from that point onward. He played in the middle at the start of the 2016-17 season, was one of the top scorers in the league with 23 points in 25 games, and then hurt his knee in a collision with Anze Kopitar in Los Angeles.

And that was it.
