Welcome Jesperi Kotkaniemi

My opinion on where he should play next year is pretty much the same as every player we take, regardless of rank:

Unless the player is supremely skilled and/or supremely intelligent so that their on ice awareness can make up for their lack of physical immaturity, see Patrice Bergeron & Ryan O'Reilly, 18 year old players should not be in the NHL.

When it comes to European players, I am never in any rush to have them play in North America. I would be perfectly fine if he plays a full season in Finland next year before coming over and starting in the AHL for the 2019-2020.

I simply hope that after completely ****ing up Alex Galchenyuk's development, almost literally from day 1 on, they've learned their lesson.

...who am I kidding lol

Yes. If it's the case where they're still planning to keep him on wing, then I'd rather see him in Laval.

He was drafted to be a center, he needs to play center. Another thing I hope these cretins have learned after the Galchenyuk stuff.

No issue with this pick. Hopefully he develops over the next couple years. None of us should have illusions of winning the Stanley Cup next season. It's time for a multi-year rebuild.

I keep listening to interviews after he got picked....everyone (except Button) questions his speed for the new NHL

Bergevin is just throwing darts and Timmins is stilll looking to show he is smarter than everyone else by taking a lesser ranked player. Organizational need-bah.What a bunch of clowns.

Yes, I saw several references to a lack of foot speed.

And I'm pouting because I didn't get my guy (Zadina)

Sens took my pick (Tkatchuk) right after....Zadina dropped, also because of foot speed.

I have not noticed any serious foot speed issues with Zadina, but I have a home town bias I suppose. The rest I have not seen live, other than Dobson and a few of the Q guys.

I think this is another 2003. The Habs should have taken Tkachuk or Zadina. Count will lament this pick for a decade now.

Yeah Zadina is an excellent skater, not blazing fast, but superior skater

Feel the same. Fans deserve some excitement too. Zadina is electric and Tkachuk will kick some ass. Brian Burke said what just about everyone was thinking. He said he would have taken Zadina, but totally understands why MB took the Finn.

I think Tkachuk end u pnot having any offense at the nhl level, but Zadina will be a 30 goal winger.

Lol at Montreal’s and Arizona’s 1rst round picks.

Ottawa, Detroit and VANCOUVER are thrilled with theirs.

Quinton Hugues, now that’s and exciting prospect.

he sounds more pissed for the fact that he went a few spots down instead of worrying for the pedigree of the team he went to.
I detect a primadona.
I would be static if i went to the wings instead of the sens, arizona, carolina, buffalo.

Due to severe need, Habs took the “good enough player” as opposed to the BPA, and I have to give MB credit - unless Molson ordered him to draft the Finn- because he might not even be the GM by the time the kid is ready for the NHL. Zadina would have been the easier, and more self-serving, pick for him. With the Finn and RP now in the pipeline, the center position looks strong for the future. That’s huge.

From everything I've read and seen, there was nothing to distinguish the 5-7 players after the top 2.

IMO Hughes was the next best talent but some thought Kotkamiemi was. I'm happy with the pick... would have slightly preferred Hughes though.

You won’t be happy with the pick in a few years. Second line center if we’re lucky.
