OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

Yes, that is a excellent comparison.

The way they have destroyed an ultra competitive team and just run it into the ground.
Yeah, it's a comparison I've made a bunch of times. Ever since Shapiro & Atkins were hired, they've both reminded me of JFJ in so many ways.

The way in which they're all talented at speaking at length in weasely corporate-speak without saying anything of substance.

Their constant "deer-in-the-headlights" facial expressions, and complete lack of balls when it comes to player moves.

An overwhelming preference for "safe" moves that leads them to do nothing but nibble around the edges of the roster and go pooper-scooping in the free agent bargain bin.

Instead of decisively charting a course forward where they're either trying to compete now or going into a properly-done, full rebuild, they sit idly by while a once-contending team slowly atrophies, and the values of all of their good trade chips diminishes to almost nothing.

Zero interest in building a deep front office with any dissenting or different views that might offer a different perspective or challenge their preferred way of doing things.

My only hope is that with the minor league talent we have, that management just won't be able to screw it up.

In totally shocking news, Vlad is mashing at AAA. 8 games, hitting .455, 250 wRC+, with 8 walks and 2 strikeouts.

Totally not ready for MLB yet.

He's ready, but this team is a shitshow...you have some ego-stroking, sell a few more tickets...then what?

Guys have quit, they're waiting for a Manager, and we bring him up here and call it a reward?

He may as well go help the 'cats win some playoff games, maybe mngmnt will find a few players, and their manager, bring in him to some stability.

It's a reward for having one of the greatest minor league performances by a teenager in MLB history. It's the level he clearly belongs at. It's the start of a relationship between the club and the player, maybe starting to build some goodwill this year will help in contract negotiations down the line.

Yes, he will be living out his dream, I'm sure he'll manage for a couple of months.

Or alternatively, he shows he's already a MLB stud calibre stick and looks to become part of that future stability. You start building around him now instead of later. The kid has been groomed mentally and physically to be an all world hitting machine since he was old enough to pick up a whiffle ball bat. A couple of months on a shit show isn't going to ruin him. He'll hit in Toronto like he would hit in New Hampshire, like he would hit in Buffalo, like he would hit on the surface of ****ing Mars.

Plus if you give him 6-8 weeks of practice at the MLB level this year, that should help him come in next year and crush it from day 1 next season, if the team's goal is to actually still compete next year.

It is still damn hell tempting to keep him down to gain the extra year of control - this is one of the things I hate about the current MLB rules. Would love to have him around to at least give some reason to watch the team over the last 2 months of the season.

The control yes...it's not even like the Jays are the first team to be like this with a sure-fire thing...I don't like the idea of pimping seats while you are taking the team apart.

Don't get me wrong, I've still been down a few times this season and I always will, but mnmgt is not just dismantling the team...everything is going wrong as well.

It feels like smoke and mirrors to have him up this season, have all kinds of positive press in the middle of guys not running out ground balls, or bailing on plays.
