Re: The (Around the League) Playoffs Thread

Karlsson is only 27 and has 2 more years under contract. He'll be able to anchor a competitive team.

We can also look forward to the decline of certain Eastern Teams (Washington/Columbus) who...

Re: The (Around the League) Playoffs Thread

So close and yet so far.

Problem is that this run was so improbable that it kind of feels worse than the game 7 2003 lose to the Devils. In 2003 we thought we would be favorites to win the cup...

Re: The (Around the League) Playoffs Thread

Hopefully Melynk ends up wearing most of the attendance "problems". Not that I think he will.

If anything he's probably happy since it will sell a narrative for City funding for the move to...

Re: The (Around the League) Playoffs Thread

I'm excited yet guarded for tonight. On one hand Crosby/Malkin are 4-2 in game 7s and Ottawa has a Washington Capitalsesq track record in game 7s. But something seems different this time. The team is...

How appropriate that the Caps would choke. It just seems to be in their DNA.

Re: The (Around the League) Playoffs Thread

Not to look back Pittsburgh but I think a lot of fans in Ottawa would rather play the Ducks if only to do a replay of 2007.

Re: The (Around the League) Playoffs Thread

The Sens have been lucky this playoffs.

    1) They drew Boston in the first round when in previous years they would have drawn a better team in Montreal.
    2) They drew the NY Rangers who managed to...
  8. Re: GDT: Game 72 Sens @ Habs| March 19, 2017 - 7:30 pm

Bobby Ryan is penciled in on the first line. That's probably good news for Montreal.
  9. Re: GDT: Game 71 Habs @ Sens | March 18, 2017 - 7:00 pm

Just about every goal tonight had an element of luck. I'm not sure tonight's actual outcome will tell us how each of the teams match up.
  10. Re: GDT: Game 71 Habs @ Sens | March 18, 2017 - 7:00 pm

The usually good Anderson just had the ultimate brain fart.
  11. Re: GDT: Game 71 Habs @ Sens | March 18, 2017 - 7:00 pm

Is Eugene Melynk capable of giving an interview without putting his foot in his mouth?
  12. Re: GDT: Game 71 Habs @ Sens | March 18, 2017 - 7:00 pm

Possibly the most eventful 0-0 game either team has played in a while.

    Re: GDT: Canes v. Senators 2/24 7:30

Carolina sure lucked out in terms of catching the Sens when 3 of their top 6 forwards are injured.

    Re: GDT: Canes @ Sens 11/1 7:30

Shots are 14-1 for the Canes heading into the break. It's like the Sens have an emotional let down after the win in Edmonton.

Rather uncharacteristic early goal for Anderson.

    Re: 2016-17 Leafs - Habs - Sens

He's playing in the AHL. Perhaps fitting for one Bryan Murray's last signings.

    Re: 2016-17 Leafs - Habs - Sens

Perhaps but I expected more for the first half of the Tampa game given how much time off they had leading up to it.

I think given the level of inertia the franchise has had they'll need more than...

    Re: 2016-17 Leafs - Habs - Sens

5 games in and the Sens lose to the Lightning and Wings but beat the Coyotes, Leafs, and Habs while at home. 5 games into the season Sens have set the tone for continuing to be a bubble playoff team.

    Re: World Cup

Exactly. The tournament is more about the NHL showing the IOC that they don't need them than anything else. It also takes place at a time of year where there's many more sports to be excited about...

Re: Around The League: 2016 Offseason

It's the classic one for one trade that you don't really know how its going to work out until a few years later. Zibinijad didn't really live up to expectations and he's not really a prospect any...

Exactly. Childish behavior all around, however Trudeau should have let the security handle it if he really thought there was an issue.

    Re: The Murray Myth

I thought it would fun to re-read this thread the day Brian Murray stepped down.

No doubt it is time for him to go. He had carte Blanche to rebuild the team in 2011, but other than Stone,...

    Re: So...there's a game

At least in Mukler's case the team had a shot at winning a cup when prospects were traded away. In Murray's case he has had 8 years to find his own prospects including one year where that was going...
