That being said player development is also terrible.

Re: Around the League - Regular Season 2017-18

Scouting is definitely the issue, the GM goes by their evaluations, but they are also the responsibility of the GMs. He hired or kept hiring those guys and no heads have rolled.
  3. Sticky: Re: GDT: Game #47 | Habs @ Boston | Jan 20th 2018 @ 19:00

2011 he took the Stanley Cup champs to 7OT. .934% over 242 shots in 7 games. He was very good that year even if we got out in the first round. I give credit where credit is due. 2011 was probably his...

In 10 seasons with us (ignoring his injured season 2 years ago), he had 5 really good regular seasons (most of them recently, he struggled early in his career), 2 good playoffs year (2011, 2014), and...

He's floating out there, a cardinal sin in my eyes. I hate floaters.

I guess it's no surprise that the only game we won this week had Niemi in net.

Seems like Byron has been doing more in 2-3 games at center than Drouin has done all year.

Don't care about him, I was mostly talking about Scherbak

He's not going to be a big points guy, maybe more someone in the Alzner mold.

Juulsen missed most of the season so far so he needs time in the AHL. I also don't mind having Scherbak dominate down there for a while, every time he gets called up he gets injured.

Jury is still out. We'll see, but I like the way he's playing, he's generating chances. I think he can be a solid 3rd line guy, similar to Danault.

He could score more but he can score. Scored 28 and 27 goals in his last 2 seasons in the AHL. He has a good shot. He only has 48 NHL games, give him a bit of a break will ya?

We must not be watching the same games because I see him do all those things. He would be grabbed on waivers for sure.

For people who care about this stuff, he has the best Corsi on the team.

Re: Around the League - Regular Season 2017-18

Good thing they traded Sergachev before he lost any value.
  17. Re: Rumours, Innuendos and Flat out B.S.: 2017-18 Edition

Every time you hire a rookie in any position, you should be ready to accept some growing pain in exchange of potential. But that time is over.
  18. Re: Rumours, Innuendos and Flat out B.S.: 2017-18 Edition

I'd be more willing to be patient with MB if he had shown some growth and an aptitude to learn from his mistakes. But his lack of accountability, toward himself and his employees (hello Lefebvre),...

Re: Around the League - Regular Season 2017-18

In all MB drafts where we didn't pick top 10, I think Shea Theodore is the only top 6/top 4 player drafted in the first round that we missed. There just isn't much left out there when it's our turn.

Re: Around the League - Regular Season 2017-18

We're on the same page. We seem to have blind luck with goalies and defensemen, not so much with forwards, mostly because we focus on the wrong attributes. When we draft forwards based on skills, we...

Re: Around the League - Regular Season 2017-18

We had horrible draft positions under MB, which contributed to our poor drafting record. If we looked at the players we missed in the first rounds, we would have needed to be near perfect at the...

Re: Around the League - Regular Season 2017-18

No fans ever like the way the coach is using the players. From my understanding, fans had the same issues with Bowman in the '70s.
  24. Re: Rumours, Innuendos and Flat out B.S.: 2017-18 Edition

Besides the center part, Pacioretty is superior to Duchene in every possible way. Better goal scorer, better offense overall, better defensive play, no character issues whatsoever, cheaper, etc. He...
  25. Re: Rumours, Innuendos and Flat out B.S.: 2017-18 Edition

Sergachev was also untouchable, it's just a very flexible definition. He was untouchable when trading for Duchene, but not for Drouin. I'm sure Mete wouldn't be untouchable for some players either.
