OT: The Official Toronto Raptors Thread

Also:

More likely to appear in a finals: Leafs or Raptors?

Raptors for two reasons. Hockey has a lot more luck based variance within a game and a 7 game series. The better team usually, usually wins in a basketball playoff series. In hockey it's a lot more of a toss up. Second is that the Eastern Conference in the NHL is pretty beastly these days (There's a very real possibility that the Leafs will have to beat 3 105+ point teams to make the finals). In the NBA, only the Celtics & Raptors are finals worthy imo and neither will see a "good" team until at least the 2nd round.

Hasn’t worked since the jazz had all of Stockton hornacek ostertag and Karl Malone in their staring lineup.

Early thoughts:

- We are definitely not looking like the "Eastern Conference Rockets" that I heard about a few weeks ago. A lot of dribble drive into the paint. A lot. Offense generally looks out of sync, which is cool in the first game of the year with a few guys in new roles and 2 new major additions.

- Val isn't being used as a passing big as advertised

- Kawhi looks like a guy who hasn't played in a year

- Defensively you can see the potential here, but again out of sync with a bunch of breakdowns. Which is normal in the first game under a new system/coach. Thankfully it's the Cavs they got on day 1.

Lowry playing out of his mind.

Kawhi looking much more comfortable as the game has progressed. Only concern is the rebounding but the Cavs are generally a good rebounding team and we have gone small a lot so not entirely surprising.

everything is great except when serge is on the court.

He'll get dialed into his new role, don't worry. He's got the tools to be a really good "new nba" 5. He was allowed, by 2 coaches in a row to play in a way that didn't accentuate his skillset. They tried to turn him into a stretch 4 and that was cool for a few years before he lost a step of his athleticism.
