OT: American Politics

He’ll get most of his pension for sure based on laws. The OIG recommended firing to sessions. That is big. Same OIG obama had.

Like I said man, I don't doubt that the suggestion to fire him is more or less non partisan and probably warranted.

What I don't believe for a second is that appropriate administrative policies were followed, and that Trump didn't push to use this as a way to try to scare other people in the FBI to toe his line. As I said in my original post, this is pure petty. Dude was 2 days away from retirement, he was gone, just let your childish grudge go. Michael Flynn is still drawing his government pension for **** sakes.

Well ultimately it will fall on Trump as the optics are terrible. I believe McCabe is dirty, I’ve always maintained that. He gave the OIG glaring reason to recommend termination. I’m curious to see what, specifically, he lied about.

McCabe brought this on himself. There are plenty of others the WH would love to have fired, that doesn’t mean they can. McCabe got caught. Only Brennan is a bigger liar imho.

It does look fishy when it occurs 26 hrs before retirement.

After retirement there would be no punishment. It can be argued this was the only way to hold him accountable. As I mentioned, I’m waiting to find out precisely what he lied about.

Remember, Martha Stewart went to jail for lying. Why should McCabe be held to different standards?

It leads to yet another story, something else to fritter away the hours of news they need to pimp...and keep us from looking behind the curtain.

Yep. This too. Bonus plan for Trump.

I don’t think this stormy Daniels issue is going away easily though. I also don’t get it, you ****ed a pornstar, you’re wife knows already, just admit it.

Sure, but sometimes the thing that feels good isn't the "right" thing to do. Trump has zero impulse control though. The guy was 2 days from retirement and going away forever, with a pension that costs less than 1 year of Mnuchin's flight bills. Just let your problem go away on it's own.

The problem with being dumb as a sack of hammers is that everything looks like a nail.

I love the irony of being fired by Jeff "I don't Recall" Sessions for lack of candor.

I'm looking forward to the day where our technology is at a point where public hearings like that have instant public statement recall ability so that as a question is asked, an AI system can pull up publicly available clips of the person answering or dealing with the same issue and the system can alert the questioners when a falsehood or evasive statement is made, with video proof available immediately for follow up questioning.

It's great and all that late night comedy shows can nail this with a few hours prep time, but being able to do it in real time will turn this "I don't recall" bullshit into the provable lies that most of those statements are.

just another day at the office

@jaketapper
Since Friday 5 pm:
*POTUS sued a porn star for $20M;
*DOJ fired embattled former deputy FBI director McCabe hours before retirement, as POTUS wanted;
* we learned the Trump campaign's data firm, Cambridge Analytica, had unauthorized access to 50 million people's Facebook data.

Nah, they were just firing him 2 days before he went away quietly into retirement because he totally deserved it.

James Comey
Mr. President, the American people will hear my story very soon. And they can judge for themselves who is honorable and who is not.

I feel finally Trump might be in very big trouble. It's getting really old having all these shocking controversies every 2 days get forgotten in a few hours.

Lindsay Graham on CNN on Trump potentially firing Mueller.
“As I have said before, if he tried to do that, that would be the beginning of the end of his presidency, because we’re a rule of law nation,” “I pledge to the American people as a Republican, to ensure that Mr. Mueller can continue to do his job without any interference."

“I don’t like the way it happened. (McCabe) should’ve been allowed to finish through the weekend,” Senator Marco Rubio said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
