not sure if serious
is this person going to be elected?
doesn't appear so. she went in with a big lead, even Jack Burton was going to vote for her, but she has pissed it away
big mistake was bringing in Peladeau and then yapping about separatism

a) Given the competition in the AL East, there's no logical reason for the Rays to make the post-season but they do. They play all those divisional games against the Yankees and Bosox and still they manage to get into the post-season
b) I'd disembowel myself with a dollar store steak knife before I'd ever root for a team with the word "Toronto" on their jerseys so no worries there. I'm not conflicted.
c) True, and I loathe the DH too, but the NL East no longer has many compelling match-ups. I'd much rather see the Expos play the Bosox or Yankees rather than the Marlins or the Mets. Besides, with interleague play we'd still get to see our old foes from the Senior Circuit often enough.
d) I don't think they're basing the entire franchise on those divisional games but being able to charge premium prices for a sold-out weekend series against a marquee team like the Yanks or Bosox doesn't hurt the bottom line. And there really isn't a comparably sexy match-up with any NL team (apologies to the Giants but they're no Yankees or Red Sox. They aren't even as sexy as the Dodgers)
It's articles like this that make me wonder if Montreal is capable of doing anything like building a stadium and getting another big league franchise that isn't hockey.
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/repo...-economy-lagging-study-shows/article17073747/
Based on knowledge learned in Boston, Manchester, Melbourne, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Seattle, the study points to directions Montreal could take to rebrand and revitalize itself in the next decade.
“This is a call to action,” Mr. Ménard said. “This was done elsewhere and we can do it.”
Montreal’s problems are often attributed to its intricate political organization. This has been an enduring debate since Montreal boroughs merged in the early 2000s, only to see a number of them de-merge in 2006 following referendums. But looking at Boston and its numerous city halls, Mr. Ménard believes that, while Montreal’s governance could be better, the city’s structure is not the issue. “It’s all about leadership,” he said.
40% of the traffic lights in the city of Detroit are non-functional. Detroit is flat-ass-broke. But it's got teams in all major sports and has built a new football and a new baseball stadium within the last few years. The local economy in Pittsburgh is nothing to write home about but they've built new parks for the Steelers and Pirates, and PNC Park where the Buckos play cost under $300 million to build (in 2014 dollars)
If cities like those can find a way to build stadiums and support their franchises, why not Montreal?
BTW, how cool was it that David Sampson got booted first out of Survivor?
There is a psychological reason they do that. Sports take people's minds off the crap going on in their city. It's a distraction.
You don't think Montrealers could use something to take their minds off the crap going on in their city too? If ever a city needed a shot in the arm it's Montreal right now.
But xpolite, the expires weren't a winning team.

#Expos play 1st home game at Jarry Park. 8-7 win over St. Louis.
She's a little young for you Bradley, tsk tsk
I just bought tix for the Giants-Padres game in San Diego on July 5. Three tix, 11 rows up about midway in left field for $237.00 US, not bad. My first Giants road game, and my son's first ever MLB game. Look for us, we will be in matching Posey jerseys sitting with a woman who doesn't give a crap and who will be doing her nails or playing with her phone.
Sounds like your regular sex life. :eek6:
