exactly, teams in the NHL just don't get 130 points anymore. 110-115 is pretty much the optimum you can get now

Come on, be honest...not everything would be forgiven (see Perron 1986)
but same could be said about any team. We only left 54 points on the table, that is pretty good in the 30 team NHL. Long gone are the 70s when we lost 29 games over three years.
