Around The League: 2016-17 Playoffs

Re: Around The League: 2016-17 Season

6-0 anaheim over Nashville right now.

A lot of things going wrong for the preds right now...

And no, pk is not the problem

Well he sure as hell doesn't seem to be a part of the solution.

How many even strength goals has he been on the ice for tonight?

Re: Around The League: 2016-17 Season

One goal, out of 6 scored...

He's also a positive possession player on the night.

Doesn't seem to be the problem from here.

Re: Around The League: 2016-17 Season

There's no leadership on that team.

And no goaltending.

And their top forwards are slumping hard. Forsberg, no goals. Neal, no goals.

Pekka Rinne may just be done.

And as I've said before, their defense is just pooched right now.

Yup.

Positive possession is what it's all about.

It must be something else...but certainly not Shea Weber. His advanced stat "body of work" comfirms otherwise.

Re: Around The League: 2016-17 Season

no screen on that goal

I don't think there's an advanced stat for that so Shaw isn't worth much. Neither is being a pain in the ass to play against, or a massive hulking rearguard that brings mountains of leadership that gives opposing forwards reason to think twice before going in the corner.

Re: Around The League: 2016-17 Season

Rinne's been on a downward slide since last year. His injuries mixed with age hasn't helped.

Nashville might be forced to bite the bullet and buy him out at the end of the season.

Re: Around The League: 2016-17 Season

And to say some people were seeing Nashville going all the way to the cup this year...

And I still need to be convinced you can be considered a cup contender with that top six.

Ebb & flow of a marathon season, but on this one night must admit it felt good as a Habs fan:

Reporting from the golf course, lol:

The Ducks have signed RFA Hampus Lindholm to a six-year, $31.5 million deal... $5.25M AAV.

Yes. I had them winning the west and losing to Tampa Bay. its early, but not looking good......don't really see a contender in the west yet. not sold on Dallas completely, maybe San Jose again. I think Chicago, Anaheim, and LA have seen better days....Colorado,Minnesota anyone?

Sharks look like best bet now....I'll wait on Nashville, its early.

Re: Around The League: 2016-17 Season

It's early.

Montreal started the season 10-2-2 last year and didn't make the playoffs. Let's not blow our loads after 7 games.

Unless carey blows his knee out again, I don't think we need to worry.

Last year, if we were not the 3rd most injured team in the league, arguably second most when you consider the leafs had robidas and Horton on their roster, we make the playoffs.

Granted I don't think we are going to be a 152 point team. But I think post season is in the cards as long as we stay healthy.
