Brad Richards and Vincent Lecavilier both retire the same summer. Gosh,seems like yesterday that they were young bucs carrying the Cup around the ice for Tampa Bay or that I was watching them play for Rimouski. That's a sign I'm getting old too, I suppose....hockey careers used to seem longer.

Lecavalier has been in league since 1998....that's 18 years....

To be fair to players from the Original Six era it takes fewer seasons to amass 1100 games than it used to. A season today is 20 games longer than what they were in the olden days so it only takes four years to play as many games as a player in the pre-expansion era did in five years.
