Game 60 | Red Wings vs. Canadiens | Feb. 26/14

Yes, we need to keep things in perspect. There is a good chance we make the playoffs and the Wings don't . Last night was very disappointing in the sense that they gave their young players leading roles and they were the better team in our building.

And? We will be lucky to win two games max. in the first round. #SoExcited.

I find it funny that you keep using Detroit as this great example.

Don't get me wrong, Nyquist and Tatar are good players but they're 24- and 23-years old respectively.

Nyquist was sent back to the AHL to start the season so they could play ****ing Todd Bertuzzi and Dan Cleary.

Galchenyuk made the Habs at 18, Gallagher at 20, Bournival at 21.

Also, Desharnais has 32 points in 57 games while the Red Wings are paying Stephen Weiss, who has four points this season, $4.9 million per year until 2018.

They have Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Kronwall, etc, and are just as mediocre as the Habs.

First of all DD is among the worst number one centers in the league bar none and if his last name was Smith , he wouldnt be here, and wouldnt be playing on most teams in this league.

Weiss was hurt most of the year but had a solid career . He was expected to be their #2 center , but this year is a write off .

This signing wasnt as nuts as the soon to be amnestied Brad Richards or the Clarkson deal for 2 extra years and more money . You want to compare this move to the Gomez trade or famous 2009 UFA offseason where we tried to build a team in one week with a cheque book signing anyone who wanted to be overpaid to join our team

Dont even try to compare our Habs to Detroit`s success over the past 20 years with player development and building a team . The Gally boys are all we have to show since 2008 , and hope they dont ruin #27 .

Detroit has drafted one impact player (a guy who has graduated from "prospect status" to Top 6 Fwd or Top 4 D or Number 1 goalie) since the 2005 draft. Jakub Kindl. Thats it. Thats the grand total of this great Detroit drafting and development over the last 9 drafts. (granted the jury is probably still out on the last four, but thats a poor crop from 2005-2009).

As for the "but their players play so long in the minors" argument. BULLSHIT.

When they had actual good players they didn't leave them in the minors very long. Datsyuk (on the team age 20), Zetterberg (20), Franzen (immediately after being drafted in 2004 played first game after the lockout ended). They don't sit on players who are NHL ready. They sit on guys who aren't ready, cause the drafting has sucked since 2005.

Are we really complaining about the ice time of a guy not being enough, when its his first game in 6 weeks?

yes they are

Anyway, there is no way that was an embellishment penalty on Subban, we should have had a power play rather than a 3 on 3

good post Ben but their roster has to be close to 2/3 of their draft picks , and when you figure they lost Lidstrom, Rafalski ,Stuart on D they have done a good job of filling in the gaps in a short time.

They went from a cup team to one that may not make the playoffs this year.

Thats what you get when you take out stars and fill with mediocre prospects.

If you take out Keith and Seabrook from the hawks, and put in two AHL guys, they probably are the same thing.... a middle of the pack, bubble team, life and death to make the playoffs.

Thats all they replaced them with... the great white hope Brendan Smith Sucks. Kyle Quincey is terrible. Danny DeKeyser is a good #4 and Jakub Kindl is a number 3. those are the guys they have replaced people with on the blue line. Only one of them was a good draft pick.
