The 2015 NHL Draft - June 26 & 27

Re: The 2015 NHL Draft

Skinner wasn't rushed at all.

You don't really understand what rushing a player is, do you?

Re: The 2015 NHL Draft

Poor Skinner...the concussions changed him

Yup. Without the concussions, he was better than Taylor Hall. Prior to the concussions, there was no doubt in my mind he was the better of the two players.

Re: The 2015 NHL Draft

Barzal to me looks like someone who'll do really well at Junior but won't have it translate as well in the NHL. I think his ceiling is a second line center. I'm a bit along the lines of what Craig Button thinks about him.

Crouse has all of the tools to be a first line winger, except that before Bennett got there, he wasn't scoring that much. I think the scoring will come. If the scoring was already there, I think he'd be the unanimous #3 pick. Is he a gamble, yes, but around the 10th pick, I'd think long & hard about taking him. Not at #5, though.

Hm, any specific reason?

I think I'd rather go with the guy who's production is already there in most cases.

Re: The 2015 NHL Draft

I just think that Barzal looks good because of the Junior competition. I just don't think his game will translate into high-end NHL success.

Late 1st round pick, slim chance to be any NHL impact player there, maybe better luck finding a potential top 4 d-man this year.

No chance he'll still be there late 1st. There's a lot of rankings that have him as a top-10 pick, which I don't agree with.

Re: The 2015 NHL Draft

Mitch Marner has 12 points in 3 playoff games.

Jesus. Those remind me of the statline of the Saint John Sea Dogs when Charlie Coyle. Zack Philips and Tomas Jurco were killing their first round competition. They had something like 16 points each in a four game sweep.

And they were in their final years of Junior.

Re: The 2015 NHL Draft

Bunch of d in late first range, Roy seemed to have fallen and that Swede Kylington is supposed to be good prospect isn't he?

Re: The 2015 NHL Draft

I say we end up with Larsson or Eriksson.

Swedes are so low maintenance, rarely complain, give their best efforts every game. That's why Babcock loves them....he often said it during his interviews how easy they are to coach

Re: The 2015 NHL Draft

If we end up trading down and getting a second round pick, I'd be very interested in Filip Ahl.
