A neutral site matchup against the Fishsticks kick off the weekend.

After yesterday's cuts, the Canes are down to 33 in camp. Peters will go with the following tonight:

E. Staal/Rask/Lindholm
Versteeg/Nash/Skinner
Malone/McClement/Terry
Woods/Ryan/Nordstrom

Faulk/Hainsey
Hanifin/Murphy
Fleury/Jordan

Lack
MacIntyre

They'll each play half the game tonight. Ward will probably play the whole game tomorrow. Kaitlin has the call on the WRAL Sportsfan app.

5-3 Canes. Skinner 2. E Staal, Nordstrom, Rask EN. Better than a sharp stick in the eye.

Apparently there are no official stat sheets from NHL for neutral site games, but Sundheim provided some post-game corrected goal credits.

Hainsey for the Staal goal instead of primary assist as Eric provides the screen.

Nordstrom goal becomes the primary assist for now Sutters' goal with the tip down low.

Exhibition 3-on-3 OT not covered by streamed "radio" call, but won by the Canes with yet another goal by Skinner, his third of the night.

Saw a video clip of it from McMahon's Twitter feed. Nice pass from Versteeg for a slapper from the top of the circle. Off metal (crossbar?) and in.

That's four goals in two games for Skinner. Nice streak.

Speaking of which, Hanifin is cranking at an assist or two per game and drawing good reviews from both neutral observers and his coach for moving the puck with confidence.

Peters has to be loving how the goals were scored. And first three were answer-goals to quickly tie an opposing goal.

Goal 1: from the defense (Hainsey) with Eric Staal providing the screen so well that Kaiton thought he might even have got a piece of it (Sundheim said it was Hainsey's)

Goal 2: Skinner on a push-the-play entry and feed from behind the net by Hanifin

Goal 3: fourth-line goal as 6'5" birthday-boy (always bet on the birthday boy...always) Brody Sutter tips in a shot by Nordstrom

Goal 4: game-winner by Skinner (nice rhyme) with assist again to Hanifin

Goal 5: empty-netter by Rask

Exhibition OT winner: Skinner (his third of the night for an exhibition hat-trick) with a top-shelf slapper from the top of the circle off a cross-ice feed through traffic from Versteeg, second assist to Hanifin (his third for the night).

Peters post-game interview. Nicely done by McMahon, by the way.

EDIT: Kaiton said during today's broadcast that a late scoring change credited Eric Staal with the tip-in goal off Hainsey's entry shot...as he had called it, he was quick to add.

The difference between McMahon and McCabe in listening to that audio-- McMahon sounded more polished, more about the interview and less cutesy sounding. Liked what I heard!
