Habs News & Notes: 2019 Offseason

Re: Habs News & Notes: 2017-18 Regular Season

Yup. When Sal wants something to have occured he talks about it until a small group of people believe him even if it's his own story that's not based on facts. He's always done that around here. It's called "fake news".

Sal is type of poster that always needs to be fact checked.

The Habs entered the season with nearly 10 million in cap space. With that type of money available it doesn't even really matter what Markov was asking for (cause it sure as hell wasnt 10 million). The off season was an utter failure by MB. It left this team with no chance in hell to compete.

Obviously MB wanted a lot of cap space for next year, thus reluctant to sign Markov for 2 years. And of course there is a limit to how much you are going to pay a 39 year old player even if its just one year, no matter how much cap space you have. Note Russia didnt even take Markov to the Olympic games, he has really slowed down a lot.

Now its up to MB to deliver next year with the large cap space. Dreger was saying that its possible that MB will be judged on his ability to get Tavares or not. It's his last chance to keep his job.

Re: Habs News & Notes: 2017-18 Regular Season

When you make a Subban-Weber trade, sign Pleks to 6M contract, trade two second rounders to get Shaw, then you are ALL-IN.....so you don’t fringe over signing Markov to 6M or Radulov to 5yrs....every move you made up to that point were all-in moves and doubling down, so you don’t think twice about signing Markov-Radulov

Was he really worried about Radulov making 6M for 5 yrs ? But not Shaw making 4M for 6yrs, or Price at 10.5M for 8 yrs (9 yrs since his contract only starts next year)

But there is one piece of the puzzle that's still missing, a #1 center. Even a dumb dumb like MB knows that.

Re: Habs News & Notes: 2017-18 Regular Season

This is how ignorant Bergevin is:

Radulov is 31, and will be making 6M until he’s 36....

Pleks is 35, and Bergy has him making 6M for zero production....

Bergy loves his scrub players, but grinds his star players (outside of Price)

He says he knows he needs a center, but I don’t think he really believes it.....

He overpays to get Shaw, but never in 6 yrs overpaid to get a center......

Re: Habs News & Notes: 2017-18 Regular Season

Bergy is old school....he still thinks his team can win by riding a hot Price in playoffs

Markov is better than Schlemko, Benn, Morrow etc. He was open to a one year deal.

On a one year deal Markov was a no brainer. MB didn't have a good offseason. Let's not pretend that he did.

And he's about to further ruin it by taking on Bobby Ryan ...

Re: Habs News & Notes: 2017-18 Regular Season

I do believe that MB is done after this season. To help him safe face, he will be allowed to "look like" he's responsible for the upcoming trades but I assume those decisions will be made others. Just my two cents!!

79 went for the jugular , he couldn't land a 2 year deal.

He was open to a 1 year deal when he ran out out of options and teams finished shopping .

He was going to Russia unless someone overpaid and no team did .

He signed in the KHL in July. There was time to get a deal elsewhere if he wanted to. You are kidding yourself if you think the Habs are the only team that wanted him. I think internally his options were Habs or KHL. His ex-wife died, he took on the kids and he wanted a stable option.

Cmon , if its Habs or KHL then simply put he either wanted a home run 2 year deal or see ya.

If he really wanted to stay in the league take a 1 year deal with anyone and move .

He is getting good money in Russia probably tax free , an AHL caliber league with less stress on the body .

No point staying in the NHL at near 40 if he wasn't getting overpaid for 2 years .

Or at least a decent 1 year offer. He stated he was insulted so he decided on KHL. I take Markovs word over MB's.

Problem is the goof that runs the show thinks all in with that lineup was good enough .

You can retain Radu and Markov all you want and make the retarded Drouin trade . You aren't winning shit , what does this simpleton not understand .

We don't have the cup core to compete , most of our players are the secondary support pieces .

We are still missing 3-4 key ingredients and until his regime figures it out they can keep patching to nowhere.
