Default OT: Stick your head out the door.

Skies are clear in Raleigh tomorrow and Saturday mornings, so check out the pre-dawn sky in the east. Venus, Mars, and Jupiter are in conjunction, and they are freaking bright right now, I saw them this morning. If you have a telescope, take advantage.

You may now return to your non-geek reading.

Yes, by all means, check it out. It's a beautiful scene when mother earth starts to bend her shoulders to reveal the first rays of our star.

Late question, but I was out on Bear Island camping on the night of 10/23 and saw 2 (not 3) really bright stars (or planets) just before dawn on the 24th. Would that have been 2 of them?

Venus is the brightest. Jupiter next and higher in the sky. Mars is much dimmer but should be right next to Venus.
