Habs Select Michael Pezzetta 160th Overall (6th Round)

Big, physical, skates well enough, no offense.

Maybe a 3rd-4th liner down the road

Which would be good for 6th round.

Another Frank Jay pick?

While Pezzetta isn’t currently ranked as a first round NHL talent and likely won’t find his way into that position by seasons end, he is a highly intriguing prospect. Boasting pro potential, Pezzetta shows intriguing hockey sense along with strong skating attributes, a physical edge to his game and deceptively good offensive traits. Pezzetta makes strong decisions in possession, anticipates the play well and shows strong positional play in all three zones. At his best below the goal line and off the half boards, Pezzetta shows strong puck protection skills and a willingness to go to, and be effective in high traffic areas. While his point totals don’t suggest he is a high end point producer, he does possess intriguing offensive traits. With deceptive vision an playmaking skills, Pezzetta also shows a strong release with high velocity on his shot. Tenacious in puck pursuit, Pezzetta uses is speed and grit to forecheck with authority. He will also use his speed and strong puck protection skills to be a handful for defensemen to contain off the rush and on net drives. Given Pezzetta’s skill set he may take a bit longer to develop into what he can ultimately become, which makes him a stronger pro prospect than it does an OHL prospect. With that being said expect the Toronto, Ontario native to have a strong second half to the 2015-2016 season, with the 2016-2017 season to be a real break out year for the seventeen year old.
