Reflecting the general apathy towards this tournament, we're in the 3rd round and there is no thread for it. This is the former Capital One Cup, open to the 92 teams from the Football League, now rebranded as the EFL. There is no title sponsor this year either.

The 3rd round brings in the 7 Premier League teams that are playing in Europe. Of the 32 teams left, only Accrington Stanley are left from League 2 and Northampton Town and Gillingham from League 1.

Tuesday:
Bournemouth v. Preston North End
Brighton & Hove Albion v. Reading
Derby County v. Liverpool
Everton v. Norwich City
Leeds United v. Blackburn
Leicester v. Chelsea
Newcastle v. Wolves
Nottingham Forest v. Arsenal

Wednesday:
Fulham v. Bristol City
Northampton Town v. Man U
QPR v. Sunderland
Southampton v. Crystal Palace
Swansea v. Man City
West Ham v. Accrington Stanley
Stoke v. Hull
Spurs v. Gillingham

Bournemouth 2-3 Preston North End aet
Brighton & Hove Albion 1-2 Reading
Derby County 0-3 Liverpool
Everton 0-2 Norwich
Leeds United 1-0 Blackburn
Leicester 2-4 Chelsea aet

Fourth Round draw, to be played week of 10/24

West Ham v. Chelsea
Man U v. Man City
Arsenal v. Reading
Liverpool v. Spurs
Bristol City v. Hull
Leeds United v. Norwich
Newcastle v. Preston North End
Southampton v. Sunderland

Outside of Arsenal-Reading, some very even and even attractive matchups. Given neither Hammers or Chelsea have European football to confuse the issue, I could see them having a pretty good go at each other.

West Ham has been terrible in the league so far but they have a month to get it together before that match.

Meh... Stoke have been terrible. West Ham have underperformed but they'll sort it out.

Fourth round complete:

Arsenal 2-0 Reading
Bristol City 1-2 Hull City
Leeds United 2-2 Norwich - Leeds wins 3-2 on penalties
Liverpool 2-1 Spurs
Newcastle 6-0 Preston North End
Southampton 1-0 Sunderland
West Ham 2-1 Chelsea
Man U 1-0 Man City

It will be interesting to see if the FA does anything about the fan behavior at the West Ham/Chelsea match. They've launched an investigation after 7 people were arrested after fighting between the fans. West Ham supporters were also passing out a lyric cheer sheet directing homophobic chants at John Terry.

Quarterfinal matchups to be played the week of 11/28:

Liverpool v. Leeds United
Man U v. West Ham
Hull v. Newcastle
Arsenal v. Southampton

Jose really needed that win.

Whats gone wrong with City? teams seem to have figured out how to slow them down.
