Well, things aren't great, but if you gave us this scenario prior to the season i'd have been all over it.
We just finished up the toughest part of the sked and are within a game or so of a playoff spot. Just based on the sked this was always likely to be the low point of our season. Our sked the rest of the way is reasonable and we have a nice opportunity to get a bit if rest now and ice a bolstered and seemingly healthy roster down the stretch. All the underlying numbers say we're still deserving of a playoff spot and really with normal shootout luck we'd be in one still.
Things aren't great, but they're still pretty good. This is where babcock has to prove his worth - coaching may well be the difference down the stretch. He has to use the right players, the right tactics, and he bas to be able to get the team into the right mindset. Because the talent is there.
I'd still be on the Leafs making it in.
