Interesting as both Preds and TBay wilted in their game 7 performances & both goalies were outperformed by the opponent - would’ve at least expected both to put forth a strong effort...

Yeah, if the Habs had performed the the Bolts over the last 2 games the internet bashing would have been unbearable, fans would be clamoring for a Kucherov for "playoff warrior" Pacioretty trade. That said, the Capitals are still the real deal, maybe they've finally learned how to get it done after years of disappointment, kind of like the Red Wings of the late 90's.

Expectations for the Caps were much lower this season. That's probably the biggest reason for their playoff success.

Caps are playing without Backstrom (yes he was in the lineup, but he clearly isn't 100%).
This looks like the Celtics current team that's playing above expectations. Younger guys are stepping up, and maybe in 5-10 years looking back we will say some of these Caps players were all-stars in the making ? It's happening in Boston with the Celtics now....

Maybe Stamkos is truly worth 8.5 M
He took much less money to stay in Tampa.....he could have asked for Toews money...and many teams would have given him that (and maybe more).

Stamkos kept repeating during the playoffs how they needed Callahan's veteran presence to calm their locker room....maybe they need Dave Andreychuck to come out of retirement ?

That, and scoring goals from a mile away on Bob, Murray, Vasi........Ovy never had it so easy.
Pens were stuck, they had to unload Fleury....but in the previous 2 seasons, Murray was always injured, even when he won his 2 Cups. Pens are all-in now with Crosby-Malkin in their 30's....maybe they should've tried to go for 1 more run....but i guess expansion draft was too tempting to unload Fleury's 5M cap hit
