Connor McDavid goes from 950,000 this year, to 12.5 million next season.

Ryan Strome (currently 2.5 million) is an RFA and needs a raise.
Darnell Nurse (currently 863,000) is an RFA and needs a raise.

The UFAs coming off their books are Mark Fayne (3.6 million) and a bunch of guys making 1.5 million or less.

Patrick Maroon (1.5 million) plays on McDavids line. He will walk or need a raise. Even if he walks he needs a replacement.


They aren't cap crunched now... but next summer, they absolutely are going to need to move one of RNH, Lucic, Sekera. Lucic and Sekera are bad contracts that will be very costly to get rid of.

Oh and in two years.... Talbot (4.1 million) and Puljujarvi (925K) will need new contracts. Talbot will be UFA.
 
you dont get in trouble paying your stars , its those 4-6 mil ok players that can be replaced that nail your cap

The key to Edmonton is the development of the Finn on the top 2 lines on the cheap for 2 more year to offset the dumping of some players upfront .

They will have to try and move Lucic...some team may bite but not many
