As long as we get a top 5 pick, we should be getting a decent player it looks like, is that the consensus? I mean, not even Timmons can mess that one up.

The top five are safe picks, no way to screw up picking any of those five

Quebec has gotten really bad at hockey.

The top five are safe picks, no way to screw up picking any of those five

Since 2000 most of the top 5 picks in the NHL draft have been very solid. A few exceptions, of course (DiPietro, Dal Colle??, Yakupov, G. Reinhart). After that it gets sketchy.

DiPietro got injured....and his big contract makes you think he was a bust....but it's more injuries that caused his downfall, not talent

Any of those centers project to be a #1 in the NHL?

My scout buddy says none except maybe Wahlstrom ( can also play wing ) project as maybe a legit 1C right now , others may develop in time but there is no sure thing .

Was he that good when he played? Looking at the draft, there were certainly no superstars in that class.

Heatley was a legit superstar for many years. Gaborik was also a top line player.

The Islanders could have kept Luongo, and drafted Heatley.....

Instead they gave away Luongo-Jokinen, passed on Healtey, and ended up with Dipietro.

If anything, Dipietro is the reason why you don't sign goalies long term to ridiculous contracts. We will learn the hard way in MTL...
