What's the point?

Bergevin would probably decide to play him at left wing instead of his natural position for a couple of years, and then citing Dahlin's poor character, he'd trade him for Erik Gudbranson, or something.

Im not too worried.

Habs will draft a star in the second round using the leafs pick we got for pleks. Does he have a point for the leafs yet?

Nope. I think, as well as playing his 1000th game as a member of the Habs, he wants to make sure he scores every career point with Montreal as well.

Seriously though, any Leaf fan who's been paying attention the last few years should be well aware that he hasn't had any offensive game to speak of for the past couple of years.

What he was acquired to do was give us additional center depth going into the playoffs, do a good job on the PK & in the faceoff circle, and to be reliable enough defensively that we can be reasonably sure nothing will happen for either team when he's out on the ice. And I'd say that he's generally done that so far, and has looked increasingly better as he's settled in.

If we wanted to acquire a center (at the deadline) that could give us offense too, it would've cost a lot more than a late 2nd rounder.
 
I was listening to the FAN590 and they were saying that Plek's true value will be seen in the playoffs. I laughed.

Pleks has a long history of vanishing in the playoffs, even when he was a 70 point guy.

He's just kinda "there" at this point in his career.

Considering that, in the last 10 drafts, the only NHLer Montreal's pulled out of the 2nd round is Lehkonen...yeah, the odds of getting a "star" aren't good.

Even if we expand that to include the 3rd round (which is what the Leaf pick will be closer to being), the only everyday NHLers to Montreal's credit drafted out of the 2nd or 3rd round in their last 10 drafts are Lehkonen and Sven Andrighetto.
 
The Habs are for sure taking Tkachuk. Is there any doubt? American college kid that is big, tough and not that good. Either that for Veleno because he's french.
