Darling single handedly loses this one, even though the Canes get shutout 3-0. Sound about right?
Different line combos in the top 9 too:
Williams/Staal/McGinn
Aho/Rask/Teravainen
Skinner/Ryan/Lindholm
Contemplating our top 9 if/when Stempniak returns is interesting. But there is plenty of room for him, although he fits into the same category as the others. Going down the list, who is in the top 9 of a legit contender:
Staal - Third Line
Williams - Third Line/Experience
McGinn- No (maybe 4th line), love the guy but still
Skinner - Yes
Lindholm - No
rask - No
Aho - Yes
Teuvo - No
Ryan - No
Stempniak - No
So I guess my take is who cares if he comes back and who cares who he replaces. If we are gonna do anything, a bigger change that that is needed
Stop moaning about it. How long did we have to endure Chad "eternally overslotted" LaRose? Nuff said.

Yeah ... I don't think that's fair to several players, but the overall point stands. Carolina's forward group is made up largely of third and fourth line players who are asked to slot up and make stuff happen. It isn't their fault that they aren't up to the task, it's the fault of the management team that keeps rolling out similar rosters with the same problems. Skinner and Aho are really the only legit offensive players, and yet Carolina's coaching staff STILL stumbles around not really knowing how to utilize Skinner ... which is a long running embarrassment so far as I'm concerned. Burying that guy on what amounts to a third line with an AHL center and putting him on the second PP unit ... I mean, that's just stupid. Yet no matter how Peters shuffles his deck, Skinner still ends up with the short end of the stick. Same with the doofus before him. #freeskinner
Should we expect a lackluster 2nd period?
