Habs trade Al Montoya to Oilers for draft pick

Lindgren>> Montoya.

Plus Niemi was not worse than Montoya anyway.

This was a really minor move, no sign or tanking or whatever.

Why are people hot to trade Byron? I don't understand that one.
Maximize return - smallish forward in his late 20s. Trend data suggests law of diminishing returns on forwards over 27 (peak at 25-26). Byron is also an elite PKer on a sweet contract - so would a team looking to go all in to win it now (Preds, TBay) pay a premium for an elite specialist whose role on the team would be clearly defined?

Would Byron + 3rd rounder net a 1st rounder or a solid prospect for example?

Not interested in simply dealing Byron for a middling pick, doesn’t serve any purpose

He's probably not going to be worth more than he is right now.

28 year old winger built on speed, how long before he loses a step and thus his main attribute?

No as to the first round pick, and possibly as to the "solid" prospect.
