They’re both crap, I agree. Niemi has been okay so far.

    Lindgren>> Montoya.

Plus Niemi was not worse than Montoya anyway.

This was a really minor move, no sign or tanking or whatever.

Meh. What are the chances he plays 7 games?

    I called a 4rth as ideal a while ago . Keep going 14, 8 , and Byron .

Why are people hot to trade Byron? I don't understand that one.

Maximize return - smallish forward in his late 20s. Trend data suggests law of diminishing returns on forwards over 27 (peak at 25-26). Byron is also an elite PKer on a sweet contract - so would a team looking to go all in to win it now (Preds, TBay) pay a premium for an elite specialist whose role on the team would be clearly defined?

Would Byron + 3rd rounder net a 1st rounder or a solid prospect for example?

Not interested in simply dealing Byron for a middling pick, doesn’t serve any purpose

Players tend to be worth more than you expect. That's why i always giggle when people say Max won't get more than one good prospect.

Exactly. If they get a good return, he can be moved. That's a what a rebuild is about.

If not - he's cheap enough to hold onto.

He's probably not going to be worth more than he is right now.

28 year old winger built on speed, how long before he loses a step and thus his main attribute?

No as to the first round pick, and possibly as to the "solid" prospect.

When you're 28th in the league, you're looking to improve your team for 2020.
Some GMs get you to the playoffs and some GMs get you through the playoffs.

    I agree.

And yet 14 is still on the roster.

By then we might be 2 players away from being a player away.

Right now we’re a French GM away from being a team who just won’t evolve.
