GDT JAN 8: BJs @ Leafs, 7pm SN

We really should win these last 2 before the break.

The Jackets are all banged up and on the backend of a back to back, and we likely don't face bobrovsky. A loss here would be a real shame.

Legend:

Letter Grades = Quality of Competition measured by opponents' time on ice, Converted into Letter Grades for simplicity
p60 = points per 60 minutes
CF% = Corsi For Percentage (i.e. shot attempts for percentage)
xGF% = Expected Goals For Percentage (i.e. shot attempt percentage adjusted for shot quality) - this stat is already adjusted for zone deployment and game score
In Brackets = CF% and xGF% relative to team
dsv% = difference between save percentage and expected save percentage

Need to jump them early. Can't let them get their forecheck going and wear us down. We seem to have lots of trouble with CBJ, although I believe this is the first time it will be Andy in net and not McE since we acquired him.

If Zaitsev comes back tomorrow I have no doubt it is young Dermott who will get sent down.

Give Dermott another 5 or 6 games, and MAYBE he can earn the trust of Babs so he truly sticks.

The positive is 1. Babs is letting Dermott play on the RHD, which improves his chance of sticking, and 2. I am reading Dermott will be paired with Gardiner tonight and not Polak. I am sure either case his TOI will be #5 or even #6 when the game's over, but if he faces tougher competition it also means Babs trusts him.

Hopefully another strong game for the Derminator tonight. We need another quality defenceman desperately.

Interesting to hear Babs say he'd have been on the team already if he was a RH shot

Willy needs to stop that one handed reach while his legs are already headed out of the d zone. Failed to clear twice that shift because of it.

i read somewhere that polak has put us down 2 men 3 of the past 5 games or something.

please, roman, keep taking those penalties and you'll be dermotted soon enough.

Dermott is a lovely skater...after seeing him (albeit a very small sample size) is anyone still mad that we turned the Travis Konecny pick into Dermott, Bracco, & Nielsen/Dzierkals? (I forget which of the two it was without looking it up)
