The team makes too many knee-jerk decisions. Julien was brought in because the team 's defense was making Carey look bad, so they brought in a defensive coach to fix the problem. He did for the rest of last season, but flamed out in the playoffs. Management also panicked with Subban, they thought if Subban lead the defensive core for the next decade, anarchy would rule. They also couldn't wait for a true centre to become available before trading their best prospect.

No, they brought Julien in because he's french and because this team's philosophy for the past quarter century is "defense first, last and always". Defensive players who don't score much don't ask for too much money and tend not to have outgoing personalities which would need to be reigned in. This is the team they want. Nameless, faceless, compliant and silent.

If Jr has any brains he’ll zero in on Mtl’er Jim Montgomery (U of Denver head coach) - the right fit for the speed based game played now & moving forward. Just look at the players he’s developed in the NHL and about to join, and it’s he right time politically if such a move were to be made. At worst make him Assistant coach to Julien - Cpt Kirks time unfortunately seems done too.
Good call. Strategies are changing quickly across all pro sports and corporations at large. Adapt or you risk becoming Blockbuster Video.

Like I've been saying since this board began, the Habs are run (and sold to the public) like a cultural institution. They have to start seeing themselves as just another franchsie competing with 30 other teams to be the best.

Some GMs get you to the playoffs and some GMs get you through the playoffs.

I would’ve even been ok with an Orangutan over the mental midget - in this day & age of communications being paramount in business u cannot have an illiterate buffoon as head coach especially for a brand like the Habs.
