I'm not ragging on Price because he's the only person in the organization that has the power to get the GM fired in the next season or so.
 
So, the Capitals traded Brooks Orpik to the Avs at the draft, the Avs bought him out and the Capitals just (re-)signed him to a one-year, $1 million deal.

So the Avs will be paying more for Orpik to not play with them, and for the next two years, than the Caps would for having him play.
