Around the League 2018-2019 Edition

Apparently Edmonton is firing Todd McClellan, and replacing him with...Ken Hitchcock.

LOL, Peter Chiarelli. LOL.

Also, does anyone really think Hitchcock can fix what ails Edmonton?

I mean, theoretically he can get all non McDavid lines to play typical boring lockdown Hitch hockey, and hope McD can outscore the other teams on his own?

This is really exactly what Edmonton needs.

An old-school, hardass coach who will put even less emphasis on speed, skill, puck-movement and offense in Edmonton than ever, because that's definitely the way this league is trending.

Hitch is a great coach, but coaching isn't the problem.

Crazy Chia could survive the coach. Mclellan wasn't the problem. Mclellan not having Hall, Eberle, Barzal, Schultz, Tkachuk literally anythign drafted outside of the top pick in the draft, is the problem.

A lot of coaches are being fired. Damn.
Hitch will have them play boring, shutdown hockey and hope to win 2-1 games.

McClellan was throwing his guys under the bus the other day. I think he’s had enough. Edmonton needs six new dmen. Their defence is atrocious.

I guess we can't say for certain that it's only the pad-size adjustment that has sunk these guys, but here is a list of the goalies that have played at least 60 games the past two seasons with a 2-yr average SV% of .910 or better.

You would think pad size is a big factor. Average save percentage started going down a couple years ago, when they started making the changes.

Torts also had a good take. Because of the cap the league is now filled with cheap, young players that are skilled, score a lot and make a ton of mistakes.

shouldn't Freddie be on this list?

I think we’ve proven that all it takes is a goodcock to dig a team out of a hole.

Who’s to say that the hitch won’t be just as effective as the bab?
