Stan Bowman is taking a lot of heat among Blackhawk fans for giving Quenneville a crap roster, leading to his firing. Here is Daniel Carcillo with a different take on how Bowman saved his life by getting him into treatment for opioid addiction.

Being a good human being doesn't make you a good GM. Bowman is a decent man ... but he just hasn't handled their roster well as the salary cap pressure ratchets up. And let's face it, bringing Quenneville back for this season was a move that almost nobody outside the Hawks organization thought was a good idea. He's a really good coach, but not a great fit for what they need in the short term in Chicago. Or the long term as they inevitably tear this core down and rebuild.
