If he's insulated as a 3rd line center in the NHL with responsible veterans this could be a path that is beneficial.

Bottom line, no one knows until Suzuki plays pre season games and shows where he is in his progression.

He could be completely not ready for all we know just like the opposite can be true.
Obviously this all hinges on him even being ready. Which he likely wont be so it wont much matter.

Just so you know the bold is what we did with chuck. Which I am actually okay with. I think his development was handled okay that first season it was after that I have issue. Keep in mind chuck was 2.0 PPG in his post draft year while Suzuki was 1.5PPG.

Of course we do not know the players but it seems most likely that it will be much easier working on skills against peers than pros.

I'm with worm. Neither Suzuki or Kotkaniemi have played center last year so it's unreasonable to hope they would learn the position in the NHL this year. I'd rather have them both back and play tons of minutes at center ideally and dominate. This is a transitional season anyway.

Thought they both played center. You sure none of them played there at all last year?

Not full time. JK played centre internationally but wing on his regular team.

    Suzuki

Though Suzuki has played largely at right wing over the last two years with the Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League, putting up 196 points in 129 games, just about the only thing the Canadiens have made clear to him is they want him to play at centre.

Something to consider for JK in the AHL

"The Rocket are overflowing with centres, so much so that several of them will be forced to play on the wing, most notably on the right side where the team lacks depth."

I'm sure JK competing for center duties against Chaput, Byron Froese, Lukas Vejdemo, Jake Evans, Daniel Audette, Hayden Verbeek, Alexandre Alain, Michael McCarron would be a challenge.

not just that, the team will tell them they are on the wing or in ECHL before putting Kotkaniemi on the wing.

just so we are clear i was never implying that JK would not be at centre

just that it might be a reason that the finnish league is better for the organization if they want to give mccarron and evans more ice time

If Skinner, The Truth, Fisher, Galchenyuk, were ready, so is Kotkaniemi

I don't think we care about Mcbust any longer.

I believe it would be better to have him with our new development coach that some Finnish guy who will play adults more, or his father (who I understand was his coach at one point). No father coaches for our stars!
