Game 13 - Tampa Bay Lightning @ Montreal Canadiens - SAT NOV 3RD 7:00 EST

No way ownership / Gillett with his debt issues (Habs + Liverpool) would’ve allowed that to happen during the Centennial season. Had to try to get any playoff revenue at all cost

McGuire said during his interview he told Jr & Savard Habs need to complete a short rebuild process to add to the core depth and was told that strategy was a non-starter.

It did set back the franchise for a while. Short sighted ownership and management. Get a few more quality prospects to go along the 2007 cuvee and we could have made a serious run at it.

We have the second biggest capacity. You were wrong, I won't hold it against you.

As an aside though, what would constitute a drop in your view?

If we were looking at crowds of 18000 or so that would be a significant drop

As it stands, we have the second biggest capacity and the second biggest attendance. What drop?

But he should have had, which was the point. Instead he went into buyer's mode and spend another 2nd round pick to get Schneider (if I recall correctly).

You really where you are to you recoup your losses. We had Kovalev, Koivu, Komisarek and Tanguay all expiring. You don't spend your 2nd on Schneider and you trade the other guys and you can probably get 2-3 firsts and a few more 2nds. And you can still go shopping for UFAs in the summer, and now you also have picks to trade. Maybe we trade a 1st for Gomez instead of McDonagh.

You nailed it GW , exactly what should of happened.

Pleks and Markov also should of been moved 3-4 years ago not in 2017 when they are worthless .

If we made the right PK trade and gotten a lottery pick plus prospects and a vet back on D we would had more kids in the funnel .

We should of kept Chevy or gotten a much better return as an A level prospect fetches top value before they prove their worth.

Bottom line this poor asset management cost us a ton of picks and potential .

In the end what did it get us holding on or making the wrong moves .....a big fast nothing but a worse off team than years ago .

You could justify retaining these vets if were legit contenders something that was never in the cards .

Nero finally made the right move for 67 , we could of made 3 or 4 of those quality moves over the years but never did .

Not being able to hold on to Julien Brisebois post centenial season was the biggest asset lost of that time for the Montreal Canadiens.
A biggest lost than all the other potential assets return mentionned previously.
