Updates and Rumours from around the League

yeah, such a huge move by the Blues to turn that horrible EJ pick into a good trade. the guy is just not very good.

It was a swap of picks, but Rattie(2nd round, 32nd) may end up being better than Siemens(1st round, 11th).

And they are going head to head in the Mem cup.

I just watched Rattie destroy the oil kings (and become the all time leading playoff scorer in WHL history) while Siemens has basically regressed from what I read (two habs prospects on his team so I have been following along).

I don't see how eakins gets the credit for kadri, frattin, gardiner, reimer being good players.

if anything, frattin and kadri took too long to become good players, while guys like holzer, blacker, ashton, colborne, d'amigo, etc. etc. don't seem to be making any progress whatsoever.

he gets the cred bc they all became better hockey players, and athletes, under him.

not clearly at all.

they've become what we thought they'd become. not one surprise yet from the great eakins development system.

and a guy like Jake was already dominant in the NHL before ever playing more than a handful of games for Eakins.

He's only been here how long? 3 years? Lets not jump the gun here. It takes a bit longer than 3 years to develop a solid farm system, let alone one that produces NHL caliber players year after year. If we can keep him here for another 3 years we should then see his development come into fruition.

I wouldn't judge Matt Frattin yet, he just came off a lockout shortened injury prone season. I say next year he gets solid 3rd line minutes. HOpefully take over for MacArthur.

That trade of Stewart/Shattenkirk/Rattie for Johnson/McClement/Siemens looks worse all of the time.

This goes aginst everything I've ever said about the Kessel trade. Rattie ending up better than Seimens doesn't change the fact that the Avs getting a 1st for a 2nd favours them.

That said, they got killed in the Stewart and Shattenkirk part of the deal.

well I was just mentioning who they got, rather than the draft positioning.

I know... I've just always argued that the Kessel trade wasn't really for Seguin and Hamilton but rather the value of each pick at the time of the trade.

Just my view.
