The Yankees have acquired INF Reid Brignac from the Rockies for cash. The 27-year-old's primary position is SS but has played 2B, 3B, LF and RF in the majors.
To make room on the roster, INF Alberto Gonzalez has been designated for assignment.

Brignac is basically a left-handed version of Gonzalez - a good defender who can't hit.
Cashman said he'll give the team a platoon option on the left side of the infield, sharing time with Nix and Adams.
