OT: American Politics

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

This just in: politicians of all political persuasion and party affiliation misuse expenses. It's sad but true.

That's it in a nutshell Jays,
Greed is bi-partisan, we all take advantage when we can. These people have access to more money, that's the problem. Well, that and the fact it's our money.

heh-heh....story of BC politics.

(eg., look how NDP or Socred [eg., conservative] premiers have left office in recent memory)

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

Hopefully, this slows their ability to completely destroy this country and its reputation before the next election.

Of course, there's always hundreds of millions lying around to pimp the party at everyone's expense.

LOL! Hilarious stuff!

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

Harper's chief of staff has resigned. This scandal just keeps growing.

Nahh...more like getting rid of anyone involved. Oh wait.....new direction.....

HARPER THE CONTROL FREAK FIRES DADDY AND PUPPY LOVER

Can't win. If he gets rid of them, he's a control freak. If he doesn't control everyone's action, he's lost control.

"Completely destroy" hahahaha. You puss.

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

That's hardly a scandal. Senators and MP's expense accounts have been a mess for years. The rules are lax and there is no oversight...I can only imagine the waste.

But unlike true scandals where monies are stolen and taxpayer funds are wasted/squandered. This is an issue of poor judgement by Harper's chief of staff. There is nothing wrong with what he did...legally or even ethically. But optically it is a disaster.

Nigel's a really smart guy and he should have known this would blow up.

The funny part for me is that the only reason that the expenses aren't a problem at the provincial level is Mike Harris' reforms to the system in the nineties. Yet another thing he's given no credit for.

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

Have we heard anyone turfing Mac harb from the liberal caucus? Has Mac harb done the right thing? No and no. There's the difference.

You haven't heard it, because:
A) it hasn't happened anywhere near as often
B) they don't have as many "sky is falling!" blithering idiots who only quote jewishworldreview and any other blog that serves their twisted view of things, without lifting a finger to do one bit of research

Yes, I am damn upset that an American embassy was the target of an organized assault and that the ambassador was murdered. Those are very, very serious actions.
Phoney outrage.
You weren't so upset at all the embassy bombings that happened under Bush's watch. or Dubya's watch. Or St. Ronny's watch. By the way, have you compared the numbers yet? Obama = 1 embassy bombing. All others = < 1

And I am also very upset that the instinctive response of the people in charge was to lie about this and try to make up a story about why it happened to actually shift the blame to their own domestic political opponents.
Because that's never happened before.
Iraq has WMDs and was behind the 9/11 attacks. Oh wait...

This post is complete gibberish. Unintelligible, even by your standards.

Again, complete gibberish. How arguing that Iraq having WMDs is shifting blame to Ws "domestic political enemies" is completely beyond me. Or anyone with a brain.

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

You're telling me arianna huffington is more credible than krauthammer?

As someone who was conservative before you were even a gleam in your mother's eye, I can tell you if that's what you really think, you're no conservative.

And I'm telling you that there's more to being a conservative than just shilling for the opinion of the most extremist members of your own ideology. My argument is not that one is more credible than the other but that they are equally poor sources of information.

The Sun and The Star similarly cancel each other out. They didn't before we lost the one and only Peter Worthington. But, now that we have, they're just propaganda pieces for their differing ideologies.

You want actual journalism? Don't come at me with partisan hacks like Krauthammer or Huffington. People with more opinions than brain cells seldom interest me.
