I see this one as a big, big test for Jonathan Bernier. His numbers show it, but this is one of those big game showdowns with another elite goalie that could really start to cement his reputation.

And it would be a sweet time for the 2nd line to have a big game.

Leafs could win their 4th in a row tonight - something they have yet to accomplish this season. A win here would not only get us to within 4pts of the Habs in the standings, but would lift us out of the mess of bubble teams and likely have us back in 5th spot in the East. Would really help to turn around the negative narrative going on around the team lately - you wouldn't know that the Leafs have been winning at a 101pt clip over the last 13gms, or are on a 3gm win streak, by the stories the media and bloggers are telling lately.

Anyways, big game.

Of course not, last time he came at Orr from behind (didn't have the cahones to face him like a man) when Orr showed his teeth thats when Parros jumped in leading to that unfortunate knock out. PK will go after the smaller players but he won't go after Orr espically not with his body guard out of the lineup, although I'd love to see Orr finally shut PK up though, the same way Kosta shut up that puke Gallagher by feeding him lefts and rights after he shoved Dion on top of Reimer.

Kadri's only fought once against Hedman last year, it wasn't much of a fight though. Hedman was being held back by the refs and Kadri landed one shot that hit him on the helmet, kinda douchey of Kadri though to fight a guy who was pinned and couldn't really fight back. Hard to judge Kadri's fighting skills based on that though....

I don't know who'd win between Subban and Kadri, it'd be an interesting fight though.

With that said, PK has a pretty significant size and strength advantage over him, so I wouldn't advise him scrapping PK.

PK is 6'0/217lbs, Kadri is 6'0/188lbs. There is no size advantage between the two, Subban has a good 30lbs on him however. That being said height/weight isn't all its chalked up to be in fights, just look at Domi he was a small little runt but managed to more then hold his own against the toughest guys in the league. Subban and Kadri are not known as fighters, I really don't think one guy would hold the advantage over the other in a fight, it'd be equal footing for sure between them if they did decide to throw down.

Milan Lucic
Derrick Engylund
Paul Gaustad
Andy Sutton
Jay Rosehill
Ben Eager
Dan Carcillo

Tie Domi played at 210-215 pounds his entire career, at a very generous 5'10 (for anyone who has stood beside him, I understand the urge to call bullshit on that).

Do you want to fight someone who is maybe 5'8 and 215 pounds? Tie Domi was far from being a "runt", he was just short. Built like a ****ing bull though.

Fighting someone with a 30 pound size advantage on you generally leads to having a shitty day. Especially when the majority of that mass is muscle mass.

Yep..those are the types of guys you add to a team to address team toughness. Not designated fighters who you can only trust out there for 5-6 minutes a night. It's why the Bruins have been seen for years as being so tough and big. Chara was on the ice for half of the game, Lucic for 18 minutes, Thornton for 12-15 minutes a game and a mixture of decent depth defenders like Boychuck and McQuaid. The rest of the team has always been fairly small, but they're surrounded with guys who can take a regular shift, and goon it up whenever necessary.

That's the model to follow if you're trying to address team toughness.

Lupul has a mean streak that you wouldn't expect. 3 fights this year with Brayden Schenn, Charlie Coyle, & Justin Faulk. Had the marbles to drop with Tom Sestito a few years ago. Fought Subban a few years ago as well. I don't think the turtleneck would do well against him at all.

You could be right... I just have this feeling about Plekanec. Like I said though, no real idea if he can actually fight.

Maybe he should be matched up against Mayson Raymond instead.

No doubt about it, the Franson of last year was a fluke and he now has become a huge problem on this team.

That was a shitty play by Bernier, didn't make much of an attempt at that at all. Almost like he expected the buzzer to go.

Anyways, were still up. lets git ir done in the third.

Funny thing is if Gardiner did that he would be benched in the third and Fraser would be back next game

Just have to come out hard and make sure we get the next goal.
On a side note: Watching this team play good and bad hockey in a five minute stretch, let alone game to game, drives me crazy. Glad I have hair to pull I guess, but jeez boys...

bernie is being outplayed, though. Price has made a number of beauty saves, had no chance on the goals. Bernie hasn't had to make a tough save yet, and both goals were right there in front of him.

Though he prefers LW, Joffrey Lupul has actually been more productive at RW this season. 16 pts in 23 games at RW vs. 9 pts in 17 gms at LW.

thing is, those designations are BS.

because Lupul's been playing LW all night tonight, and Kuly's been on the right, defensive and offensive zones.

Price looks awesome in most games I've seen him in this year. Good timing for Canada.

Lets just hope Team Canada makes the right decision and starts him.
