Just starting this thread to keep game comments here, and comments on commercials.

Speaking of commercials, I just got PIA VPN so I was going to stream it to my tv. Fox.com says they stream it, so because I am in "New York" will I be able to stream it no problem from Fox.com?

Would love some advice on a good stream.

Rooting hard for Denver, but the smart money was on Seattle for wagers......got the under for each individual Denver WR and RB in receiving yards, under on Manning for yards, and Seattle on the moneyline.

Hopefully I end the day down some money.

Seattle needs to start converting some of this field position into TD's. That offence isn't going to get shut out.

Montana
02-02-2014, 07:04 PM
Nah, this is a dream scenario as is for the Seahawks...all metrics/simulations had them as likely victors today as it was. Now they've been spotted 8 points, only had to have their league best defense on the field for 6 first quarter snaps, and have worn down the Denver D a ton in a short period of time, and now they get the ball again in great field position.

If they play their game and don't shoot themselves in the foot with turnovers of their own, it's gonna be tough for them to lose this game....statistically, Seattle is a virtual lock to win atm.

Manning will have his moments, but he simply won't be able to go gang busters on a D this good that is so well rested....particularly when they're gonna have to shelf the run game here before long, (making Seattle pass defence job, all that much easier)

I'm out west, so I don't know. One tip with Vmedia is to go into your settings and make sure that only either your ethernet or your wifi (whichever your vbox is connected via) is turned on. if both are turned on you'll run into some intermittent freezing issues.

As well, if you're also running vmedia internet, make sure your torrent client isn't on.

Trent Dilfer has a Supberbowl, Dan Marino doesn't.

Manning is the greatest QB of all time and has 1 SB, his mediocre brother has 2.

Tom Brady has 3 SB titles while playing at a league average level......zero in roughly the decade since he's begun playing like an all-pro.

It's a team sport with 53 players and three sub-teams on each side of the ball deciding the outcome. Team achievements aren't a reflection of individual success.

I'm not arguing that championships = greatness, as the QB's you've listed prove that.

I am stating that Manning is and has been amazing, but he hasn't shown jack tonight. All I am saying is having great numbers in the reg season, and playoffs are amazing... but the greatest of all time needs to have amazing stats in all games.

Even losing in the superbowl is fine, but at least do something in the games.

Montana, Brady, Elway etc.... have had great careers and all have had memorable superbowl games.

Brady hasn't been great in the Superbowls. He's had some good games, but he wasn't the only reason they won, or even the primary reason at times.

Well Terrell Davis was the #1 reason for those 2 Super Bowl wins. Elway did get lucky Denver delivered a legendary RB (He really is one of the greats even if it seems he isn't mentioned as one today).

Elway and the Broncos had 3 dogs before winning it all.

Yep, that offensive line and TD were the MVP's of those Bronco teams.

Montana is the greatest ever.

I played growing up, used to watch it when I was younger. I have a fair bit of knowledge and appreciation for the sport. Just have a hard time sitting through an entire game without rather spending my time doing something else. On the other hand, I can watch a random basketball game from opening tip to the final buzzer, similar with hockey and even baseball. Never bothered to analyse why I don't give a ****, but I don't really give much of a **** about the sport any more. It's clearly the best run league, best marketed, officiated, etc. I wish the other sports had half the OCD that the NFL has about getting every call right, but beyond that I don't give too much of a **** beyond the odd game.

If you really got into the intricacies of it, and learned the sport on a similar level that you know the NBA, I think you'd absolutely love it.....it's the most cerebral of all sports. High level chess, played with the greatest athletes on earth.

When you get into breaking down the tactical battles that play out on each and every play, the traps set by DB's/Defensive co-ordinators for later in the game....the movements pre-snap, the battles in the trenches. It's the best.

Tom Brady has 3 SB titles while playing at a league average level......zero in roughly the decade since he's begun playing like an all-pro.

First of all outside of his first season, Brady has never performed at the league average level. Those NE teams when they were winning titles were based on great defense and great coaching, Brady had pretty much 0 help offensively yet he lead NE to game winning drives after game winning drives and also came back from deficits to win some of those play-off games. Those teams were driven by defense. As soon as Brady got any semblance of offensive help he started putting up great numbers.

Fair enough. It boils down to taste. Personally, basketball can be awesome but it's my least favourite. Too much scoring for me. The D gives up easy entry to their zone on every play while in football every yard is contested (unless you're up big late in the game).

Plus in football, teams pick from a variety of different systems. And then they try to perfect and modify it and build their personnel around it. There's only a few ways to play in the NHL.

First of all outside of his first season, Brady has never performed at the league average level.

In 2003, Brady ranked 10th in QB rating, TD's, and yards per game, 13th in completion %, 14th in yard per attempt....among qualified leaders. His first four years in the league his highest QB Rating was 85.9

..but you're 100% right, "league average" isn't accurate.......he was simply a good at that time, not great one.

Those NE teams when they were winning titles were based on great defense and great coaching,

Agreed.

Brady had pretty much 0 help offensively

Corey Dillon was 3rd in the NFL in rushing one year (and had more YPG than either of the two above him), and led the NFL playoffs in rushing, averaging 97 yards per game.

Brady was a real quality QB......but he never played at an all-time great level until after they stopped winning Superbowls. If Superbowls were an indicator of the calibre of a QB, then Brady would have won zero titles early in his career and would have won 4 or 5 in the decade since.

It's funny, my buddies who are diehard Pats fans feel the same way........can't say I totally understand the hate for Welker. He was a fan favourite for years, he's quite clearly going to be a shell of his former self in old age on account of the numerous concussions he took on behalf of the Patriots, all in an attempt to help them win. His brain must be complete mush these days, and he'll be lucky if he doesn't have early onset dementia as a result.

....and he gave the Patriots the chance to match the offer the Broncos made him, and the Pats turned him down.......he tried to remain with the Pats and they turned him away, so it can't really be argued that he's some traitor that spurned them and took off.

Given how massive a fan favourite he was in NE, it surprises me that people turned on him so incredibly fast (and with such hate).
