The loss to the Panthers were sure disappointing, but tonight we get to redeem ourselves vs. the Stamkos-less Bolts.

The Bolts might be a little dejected after learning Stamkos is gonna be out for a few more weeks at least, or they may also more motivated than ever to continue the march without Stamkos. What they have done since losing their superstar has been nothing short of surprising though, and the Bolts are definitely a top team in the East, and a good measuring stick for the inconsistent buds.

The Leafs snapped a good run last game by playing one of the most embarrassing games - and that comes at the heel of a few really suspect moves by Carlyle too, including bumping McClement back to 3rd line role and 3rd line minutes, inserting Clarkson back in the lineup (who did score though) and dressing both Orr and McLaren again.

I hope to see Holland soon ... I really don't want McClement with 10+ minutes again.

BUt this team also gotta respond much better than they did vs. the lowly Panthers.

Let's hope it's a good bounce-back game tonight.

Go Leafs Go!!!

I feel like we need a good two games so the break is a positive one; even though we'll all be watching the Olympics, the Leafs lose the next two and they guarantee themselves bad press. Win the next two, they'll probably get buried by the Olympics.

The St. Louis announcement today may not be good for us, definitely look for him to be feeling dangerous tonight. Score first, get the Leaf fans into the game, hopefully we follow our usual plot and follow a stinker with a good game.

BeLeafer

Not much hope for Randy not using the same lineup as last time, as I don't think Holland or McKegg are available (although I've been too busy to check anything the past few days).

Important game to win. Tampa gets too far up otherwise.

Get your asses in gear tonight, boys!

Putting Clarkson back in the lineup, and bumping your 4th line center to the 3rd line when your 3rd line center gets injured aren't questionable moves. And he didn't dress Orr and MacLaren.

again there, Franson is the non-star of the show.

halfway through that sequence Franson gets the puck and loses it with a lazy play, causing us to be hemmed in our zone twice as long.

And everybody should be ecstatic that Clarkson didn't look lost out there. If he could start pulling some weight it sure would help get some consistent lines going, keep one goon off the roster at least.

Even Ranger Managed to just be barely noticeable most of the time. Didn't look out of place...but he is.
Funny thing on Clarkson; I don't think he even assisted on that play, the Dman swatted at the puck and passed it on to McClement, not Clarkson.

Still, if we can get our worst players to start playing better, that can only be a good thing.

Or will this feed the radio shows tomorrow, that Kadri doesn't want to be a leaf?I dunno, he got beer over it in the Florida game and it's not dry yet after he washed it ...? I mean, people also talked about Kadri not wearing the baseball cap after the draft and made a big deal out of it, when it was nothing in the end.

It's a big win because it's a good bounce-back game after that crap show in Florida ... that's still un-excusable. Losing is one thing, losing big I can accept, but total lack of effort?

Anyways ...

- I gotta wait 1 more season to officially say this, but we might have found a gem in Bernier. Throughout the entire season, from month to month he's been either good, great, or spectacular. He's not had a bad month. Not really had a bad stretch, he's been very consistent, and when he's hot like he is now he is pretty much a top 3 goalie in the league. Over the season, he has been at worst a top 5, if not top 3 goalie in the NHL. We were terrible to start the game last night, but Bernier made sure we don't even talk about that this morning. Good goaltending does hide a lot of flaws.

- How did we look like 2 different teams before and after the 1st PP? I have absolutely no idea.

- People act surprised Gleason did what he did after Bernier got in a collision ... for as far as I can remember, when I was a kid, that's what happened every single time you come close to touching a goalie. The only thing I am surprised, is Reilly - who was right there, didn't at least start shoving after the hit. That said, Gleason was rushing in to start havoc ... he sure didn't give Reilly much time.

- It's a crazy experiment to start Kulemin in the middle without even trying it out at practice ... Carlyle said he told Kulemin he'll try this AFTER the morning skate, and Kuley said he thinks he can handle it. Kuley played a little bit of center back in Russia, and surprisingly last night, he didn't look out of place at all.

- Bodie continues to look good. And I think Ranger, in his limited icetime, looked alright too. You gotta think there's a lot of rust there, but he played fine. Kudos to Carlyle for finding a way to get Ranger back in the lineup vs. his former team.

So off we go, and we face the struggling Canucks on Sat. The last loss to Canucks was a blowout (6-0?) ... not only that, but we lost Bolland in that game, and it started a month of slump after that ... I'd love for us to pay back the Canucks on Sat night.

Would also guess that most of those draws were in the defensive zone against someone that is pretty decent at it. As he's been on the defensive line for a lot of the last few years.

"It was like a four-point game tonight," said Gleason, who was part of a lengthy tussle when Tampa Bay winger J.T. Brown ran into Leafs goaltender Jonathan Bernier. "Now I get to have a beer with my dad on the plane."

so

1) gleason is the best.

2) they obviously blew it in florida because they were out drinking with the pops' the night before.

I don't get how Gleason is deemed expendable by a team trying to make the playoffs in the east.

That was a great deal. Not just because Gleason has been great, but also because it caused the exile of Fraser, and the almost permanent banishment of Ranger.
