Oh look the Raps don't turn the ball over a **** tonne and suddenly the Nets don't look very dangerous. It's been the key to the series so far, now Toronto's superior rebounding can take over and gain them more possessions than the nets.

I was saying it at the deadline and I'll say it again. We really needed an upgrade on Salmons (and Ross), and another legitimate banger inside. That shit is showing up in this series. Good learning experience playing a veteran group like this and I have all sorts of faith in Masai to take the cap space, and moveable assets we have and add quality pieces, but we really could have made a run in a weak conference if we had added 1-2 good quality rotation veterans at the deadline.

It was the pure lack of awareness there. I mean, you have one ****ing job as the weak side wing on that play, be aware of the shot clock and fire the open jumper if you get it. I'm all for a ball fake and take the ball at the rim if there's 6-7 seconds on the clock when you catch it. When there's 3.5 though, ****ing shoot you moron.

This is the shit I was talking about before the series. The legs just aren't there at the end of games any more. Even Pierce hasn't been the lethal 4th quarter assassin he was 4-5 years ago. He's been good because he has ****ing ice water in his veins, but the legs just aren't there like they used to be.

The more the Nets absolutely rely on those 2 in the clutch, the better it will be for us.

I was in the States for game 1. They kept showing that cover on ESPN. Kinda made me smile a bit. It also made me smile hearing everyone analyze the series. I don't think any of those "analysts" could name one player on the Raptors. They all just assumed the Nets vs Heat series was a lock. Well, everyone other than Jalen Rose and Bill Simmons. Those two picked the Raps to win.

Yeah, I'm waiting for the US basketball media to call the 3 seed winning a first round series, an "upset".

My favorite were the guys doing the play by play. "Our job this series is to introduce you to the Toronto Raptors. They have guys named Kyle Lowry and Demar DeRozan."

It was stunning. How can a 3 seed that has been one of the best teams in the league since the Gay trade be so unknown? I didn't really care that they get no respect down there because I knew the team would do the talking, but it's just funny and confusing to see.

if ross gives them the 10-12 pts, 40% 3pts and solid d he's been bringing all year the series is over right now. too bad. he's the sort of guy who SHOULD thrive in the playoffs (good shooter, good off the ball D, athletic) but he's totally pussed out.

good stuff from hayes. the rebounding took a hit when he was on the floor, but he gave them good minutes. disrupted some shots, took some good fouls.. with amir and patterson both banged up they really needed that and he came through.

ESPN: NEW YORK –- With less than five minutes to go, the Nets and Raptors found themselves deadlocked at 79.

This is when all that playoff experience is supposed to pay off, right?

Yet when the pressure of Game 4 intensified, one team looked like it was playing in its first playoff series ever, missing its final five shots while turning the ball over four straight times during one critical stretch.

That team wasn’t those baby Raptors, who are supposed to have just hatched out of their eggs. Instead, the Nets looked inept and disturbingly shaky in crunch time.

Forget about all that lack of playoff experience and calls from the officials. The Raptors already figured out how to win a playoff game and now officially know how to win one on the road after walking out of Barclays with an 87-79 win to even this series.....

Loving these quotes: "This is where we should be at our best, those late-game situations," Williams said. "We've been there before. They're a younger team that doesn't have as much proper experience, but they ain't playing like it."

mbow30
04-28-2014, 10:26 AM
this series is BS. if not for some bad performances by ross and awful officiating the raps run away with it. the raps are an awful matchup for the nets - and so their only play is to thug it out and hope the refs don't call them on it (which, generally, they haven't). the raps are faster, shoot the ball better, defend better and have the size/rebounding edge. these teams really aren't that close. the nets are hanging around because of some horrible calls. that's it.

Wayward DP

Solid, gutsy win.

Great start in the first. Love that Casey has Ross defending D-Will; D-Will cannot beat him off the dribble which really stifles what the Nets can do offensively. That and doubling Joe Johnson in the post. Great adjustments from Casey to effectively take away what had been two of the Nets primary weapons offensively early.

Demar was huge in the first. Amir had a really gutsy performance, and really great to see him get that call on Pierce in the dying minutes. He had earned that from some of the BS calls earlier in the game.

Offence went dry and ugly at times (too much individual play, and a pretty pathetically slow failure to adopt to the Nets high trap on our guards and dribble exchanges) but great hustle and defence kept us in it.

Would have liked to see more Val floor time and touches, but Amir and P-Patt were both really big down the stretch.

Lowry's a gem but still needs to play a bit more under control at times, he's been hucking a lot of questionable shots this series.

Overall though, solid, gutsy performance. Went into a hostile building, shut the crowd up early, built a big lead, took the counter punch, and then whipped them in the fourth. I don't know how we do it, but our fourth quarter dominance is just awesome.

Also, feel like Jason Kidd should be getting a lot of credit. He's made a ton of adjustments that have worked pretty effectively to keep his old man Nets in the series.

And yeah, KG has lost it. Having him out there in the final minutes instead of Plumlee is a huge advantage for the Raps.

Is it set in stone like the nhl match ups of who plays who in the second round??? Or does the NBA have it that the top team always plays the lowest seed in the second round.

Meaning, if the Hawks beat Indiana would the hawks face the Heat in round two as they are the lowest seed and the raps would get Washington??
