Canada loses 3-2 in shootout. Reimer was in net.

That'll help his trade value!

Sounds like Reimer was decent though, Canada just took a lot of penalties and kept turning the puck over.

Was Randy coaching?

Vive La France Ugly to say the least.

No way we should ever lose to them in hockey just like they would never lose to us in soccer.

Optimus Reim came up short again. Outduelled by Cristobal Huet

Apparently Rielly got a PP goal against the Czechs!

Haven't seen any replays yet and Reimer appears to be having a decent game so far.

Canada survived a late surge by the Czech to win 4-3 ... they had a 4-1 lead going into the 3rd but the Czech scored 2 quick goals in the 3rd to turn a sure-win into a nail-biter.

And yes, Reimer was in goal.

So Reimer lost his starting job to Scrivens

Dunno about that, they've been alternating for the last few gamers. Interesting that Kadri is being played at centre over Hodgson.

Canada seems to holding their own despite the down roster.

Kadri's icetime has been increasing, and he's looked good in the tourney as well.

Rielly has been used as a PP specialist .. Canada carries 7 dmen and Rielly only plays on PP.

On other teams, Gardiner is also playing for team USA.

Haven't watched the yanks, how's he looking?

I didn't watch either, but he was on the ice in dying minutes with the US leading by a goal

Ben Scrivens was named starter for the elimination round over Reimer

Ben Scrivens was named starter for the elimination round over ReimerThat sure isn't helping Reimer's trade value.

With Carlyle staying, Reimer will not play another game for blue & white. It would be bad timing to see his trade value take another dip right now.

lol

it's like Groundhog Day for Reims.

Pretty funny. The last time Reimer played for Canada at the World Championships, some goalie named Jonathan Bernier ended up taking his starting job after getting added to the team mid-way through the tournament. James just doesn't have any luck hanging on to a starting job, no matter where he's playing.

Is that luck? Or...

LeafGm
05-22-2014, 10:17 AM
It's obviously not luck. James has a serious problem between his ears, unfortunately, and it's not just the concussion history.

Canada loses to Finland, shitty goal by Scrivens and a turnover by Myers lead to their downfall.

Scrivens shit the bed for sure. Last 2 goals were real stinkers.

number17
05-22-2014, 04:08 PM
The decision to go with Scrivens sure doesn't look too good ... Scrivens had a .884 SV% in this elimination game and allowed 2 very stoppable goals get by him.

Ho hum, another QF screw up, what else is new.

Rinne looked horrible on the first two goals as well. The Turris goal was a nice shot but his attempt to save it brought back memories of 80's goalies

Reimer just folds when the heat gets cranked up, he's not reliable. He melted against Boston in Game 7 with mere minutes to go, when he had the chance to get his #1 role back from Bernier late last season he imploded as well, and now same thing is happening at the tournament. The thing is he's not hurting others so much as he's hurting himself, if he wants other NHL teams to take him seriously well he's making himself look like a fool, I don't think any team would take him on as their #1 given his shaky track record.

I thought Zeke would have been here by now to rip on Scrivens and pimp his favourite goalie etc
