If Statsny goes to Nashville then he will have gotten one of the worst contracts this off-season. You missed Dan Boyle which I will say Toronto, Detroit, or NYR

Paul Stastny-Nashville - No
Matt Niskanen-Colorado - Possible
Jason Spezza-St Louis - Possible
Brad Richards-Dallas - Yes
David Bolland-Florida - No
Brooks Orpik-Florida _ Hells naw, Florida will give Ekblad a chance and already have Kulikov, Gud, Jovo, Campbell, Petrovic
Martin Broduer-Pittsburgh - Probably. Especially if they help him swap the U and E back in his name.
Jussi Jokinen-Montreal - No
Dustin Byfuglien-Philadelphia - Stays put
Sean Coutourier-Winnipeg - Stays put
Mike Ribiero-Chicago - Heard those rumors too but crack Jerry, crack.
Vincent LeCavalier-Arizona - No takers, stays put
Ryan Miller-San Jose - Possibly
Jonas Hiller- Vancouver - No clue what happens with him
Evander Kane-Buffalo- They'll try to move him but he'll stay put
Thomas Vanek-Minnesota - Arizona
Mike Cammalleri-New Jersey - plausible
David Legwand-Columbus - Why would Columbus need him? I think Dallas or Washington.
Milan Michalek-Toronto - Another soft winger? I don't think TO is the destination
Joffrey Lupul-Brooklyn - Why?
Matt Moulson-Buffalo - Probably
Radim Vrbata-Brooklyn - Montreal
Ales Hemsky-Brooklyn - Montreal or NJ

A lesser player on a worse contract, plus we'll give up a pick and retain salary.

man, must be great to be him today.

Yep. Just got paid off huge to leave Buffalo. That sounds ****ing lovely.

Now he's walking into the UFA market as the best defender available, with 15-20 clubs having a nice pile of cap space to throw around.

MyNameIsJonas
06-29-2014, 12:48 PM
Colorado should finalize Ehrhoff and get 1 more mid pair D, and they are right there in the West.

It is amazing how the vast majority of players signed to these long term, cap circumventing deals have fallen through, or teams are contemplating canning them.

M. Richards
B Richards
Erhoff
Luongo
Ribeiro (not long term, but longer than warrented)
Grabovski ""

And I know there are more.

I think Clarkson is gonna get one more year to prove something and if he returns the same performance.... he's on that list.

Seems like Burke again knew what he was talking about

No mention of players who have worked out? I bet Minny is happy with their signings.

06-30-2014, 09:44 AM
Well players are being bought out now because of the new cap penalty when those guys retire.

But some like Carter, Hossa, Suter etc. are such great signings their teams don't even care about the penalties.

Yeah, he's the biggest winner of free agency already. All told, he's walking out of Buffalo after three years with $22M already in his pocket. On top of that, he'll also be getting a yearly salary of slightly more than $850k per year to NOT play in Buffalo for each of the next 14 years, and he'll be getting whatever other amount he can sign for with any team of his choice this summer.

Honestly, Lecavalier might not be a lost cause. 45 point pace in 15 minutes of ice time last season. Don't be shocked to see him return to 55-65 point form.

I don't see old, brittle, one-dimensional Lecavalier helping this team. Plus his contract sucks.

I'd be very happy if we got Michalek. I haven't been paying much attention lately(in soccer mode now), are there actual rumors of this or just what you guys think will happen?...If he's playing with Phil he's our 2nd best scorer imo...Really like his game.

and no Habsy he's not that soft....Compared to what we had in Maca and others, not even close...

This.

The data points to Vinny being better than what people now perceive him as, which is a ~40 point player.....right situation & with quality ice time tho, he could easily be a 60+ point guy again.

He would be given 3rd line es mins and possibly top pp unit time if he comes here, not sure if that's enough ice time to get 60pts.

Pucklosopher
06-30-2014, 02:30 PM
Is Vinny better than Bozak or Kadri? If not, does he bring things neither of those guys have? A bit more size, sure, but otherwise no. He's not a good two-way player. And he needs first unit PP time to put up numbers.

Pass without a second thought.

Pronger84
06-30-2014, 02:51 PM
Hard to say. Bozak can't even put up 50 points with top line mins and elite players, vinny could possibly at this point out produce him. Kadri? He played at a 73 point pace in 12/13 and put up 50 points in 80 games on the 2nd line, doubt vinny bests that.

I still like Conacher. Heart of a lion. Balls of steel. Yeah he's small but he's a tough little bugger.

I still think he'll catch on somewhere and make the teams that gave up on him look bad.

He got the short end of the stick in Ottawa last year (IMO) and I didn't see much of him in Buffalo, but I do think that Tim Murray's head is so far up his ass that even uncle Brian can't give him directions out.

I don't blame any leafs fans that don't want him, but at the same time don't write this guy off because two mickey mouse organizations waived him.

It's widely believed that Ottawa only waived him because they were too broke ass to take on half of Hemsky's salary for 20 games.

Great news on Bolland.

As for Cory Conacher, I think this pretty succinctly sums up his NHL career:

Playing on a line with Steven Stamkos & Marty St-Louis: GP 35, G 9, A 15, Pts 24 (GP 82, G 21, A 35, Pts 56)
NOT playing on a line with Stamkos & St-Louis: GP 91, G 9, A 22, Pts 31 (GP 82, G 8, A 20, Pts 28)

Other than being a midget, there isn't much to pick on with Conacher's game.

It sucks that some useless plug like Greening or say a Brad Isbister type get chance after chance to stay in the NHL and that a guy like Conacher who has every attribute you could ask for in a player (except size) has such a hard time.

I'm not the champion of the midgets or anything. Just sucked to watch a true fighter in life get cut loose with so many dog****ers wasting roster spots.
