Mark Masters
Kadri on Kozun: "His centre of gravity is low to the ground & he can kind of shift off, similar to those smaller Montreal forwards"

Now we have a smurf of our own.

Good on Kadri. Hopefully that ends up on the Habs chalkboard.

Well, it's not like it was in the good old days, but you still do have a couple in your top-6:

David Desharnais - 5'7"
Brendan Gallagher - 5'8"

No matter what though, you'll always be the Smurfs to us!

Two of the worst corsi teams from last year going head to head...should make for some terrible hockey.

I think he said his farting makes it blue zone.

What am I watching on tv? Sens-Habs ... is this a rerun or something? It can't possibly be a pre-season game, the night before the Habs play their regular season opener tomorrow night. What am I missing here?

Easy win to start the season. We will be a lot better this season, young team that is still learning how to win.

Hoss

I will be at that game gentlemen and HL...

I've had some luck at some previous games last year, so here's to the streak continuing. Nice to see TSN pick the Habs to end up in third in the east behind Tampa, but of course they have Toronto in 10th....

I have a quiet optimism this year. I think teams will be trying what they did last year, and we could burn them.... Here's to hope.

He must be doing something right, fitness-wise. He was diagnosed with and beat cancer partway through his rookie season, and only missed 12 games. He's also played 364 consecutive games as a Leaf. After missing the first 12 games of his first season as a Leaf due to off-season shoulder surgery, he hasn't missed a single game since.

Finally the wait is over!!! It seems like forever but we got Leafs hockey again!!!

Really looking forward to how our 3rd line and 4th line plays, and how much icetime they get.

Also curious to see if Horacek gets to implement his defensive system here and if we can play a better puck possession game!

1) an ashton-mcclement-bodie fourth line.

Biggest concern line-up wise is the right side behind Kessel -- three pretty big question marks there.

number17

The frattin line is supposed to be the 4th line instead of the 3rd. Of course, the thing is, these days there isn't a big difference between 3rd and 4th line either

hockeylover

That's why I would've been awfully tempted to leave Nylander in the lineup for a regular season audition.

number17
10-08-2014, 04:02 PM
I would have too but it's not the end of the world if he doesn't.

When Leivo recovers, he should take Frattin's spot, and we'll end up with Kessel, Leivo, Kozun and Clarkson on the RW. I think I'm ok with that.

LeafGm
10-08-2014, 04:25 PM
It's a big question mark right now who's going to fill that second line RW spot, but I wouldn't be to concerned about it. I think we have a bunch of players that potentially could do an adequate job of filling that spot, and I'll be surprised if someone at least doesn't step up to grab the job.

If the Leafs put themselves into a strong playoff position, they may also be able to address that spot cheaply via trade, if more Gaborik/Vanek for 2nd/3rd rounder type deals are out there. It'll help that the Leafs aren't squished right up against the cap this year.

Lupul with the lazy ass turnover on his blueline damn near caused a goal. Good stop by Bernier. He's keeping the door shut. These guys need to respond.

Yup! This is why you need to charge at the shooter, not sit back in front of your goalie... Aboloute pathetic out there.

That right there is why JVR shouldn't be up on the first line. More precisely why those 3 shouldn't be playing together. You put Lups up there and we at least have a bit of a cycle game to get chances that way(he's not as weak during board play).

This year's 4th line does a lot of running around, banging, and chasing the puck, similar to 4th lines from previous years ... only difference is that this year's 4th line does it, in the other team's end.

No sense of entitlement. He is the team's number 1 goalie and cannot lose it after one game or two. Reims has had his chance. Bernier will get his. If he fails, we are in trouble.

If bernier gets the start next game there sure as hell is... Again bernier has been a .500 goalie since coming here why does he deserve the reins... Again go with riemer against Pitts and if he struggles then go back to bernier.

I wasn't referring to the 4th goal, I meant the overall game.... And while we're on the record I doubt any goalie stops the 4th goal, bad deflectin that was all luck.

They can't do that. It's Bernier's net to lose. I regretfully admit that Zeke may be correct in calling him "Bad Goal Bernier" or "Bad Bounce Bernier" or whatever it is.
