Couldn't ask for a better match up to get back on the winning track.

How bad are the Sabres?

Dead last in goal differential with a whopping -42 after just 18 games.

Dead last in PP with just 5.4% success (this would set the low water mark in NHL history by a fair margin if its maintained).

Dead last in shots against per game at 37.1

Dead last in shots for per game at 22.9

Dead last in faceoff wins at 42.8%

Dead last in goals scored per game at 1.22

Dead last in goals against per game at 3.61

Fewest wins at just 3

#1 in losses at 13

In short, a team on track to go down as the worst in the entire history of the NHL. This is as gimme a game as you could ever find. Don't **** it up, boys.

Why do I have a horrible feeling about this game? I shouldn't right? It's the Buffalo ****ing Sabres

Well, it is perfectly natural for you to have a horrible feeling about the game. The Leafs have made it a habit over the years of often playing down to the level of their opponents. But you can also be encouraged by the fact that the Leafs didn't do that when they faced the Sabres two weeks ago and beat them 4-0, while out-shooting the Sabres 37-10. Hopefully they come up with a similar performance tonight.

The Leafs give up a ton of shots and the Sabres only generated 10 last time....they are really, really, really bad.

so yeah, nothing but the 2 points is acceptable.

This is a perfect game for them to try out some different combos. The 5 on 5 possession stats from last night scream a need to try something else, as did Bozak's floating around the defensive zone. JVR hasn't been much better in that regard. Both deserve a demotion, including with their pp time.

Clarkson has been beyond useless since his first 10 games. He's got 1 point in the last 7, despite plenty of undeserved pp time.

Look for Randy to stick with what he's been doing all along.

we can't afford to demote JVR or Bozak. And yeah, Clarkson has turned back into absolute garbage again. It was nice while it lasted.

Perhaps it's a little showcase. Someone out there might be considering him in a trade, but first wants to see how he stacks up today against NHL competition. Oh wait, scratch that, AHL competition.

Now you've done it!

This is a perfect storm... Reimer playing awful, stupid penalties, and Neuvirth playing like a vezina caliber goaltender.
