It's a weird line that really should be taken apart permanently. Bozak played some of his best hockey away from Kessel, and Kadri is vastly superior to Bozak in the possession/defensive side of the game with more pure skill than Bozak. When they're together there is a lot of floating and getting hemmed in their own end.

I would like to kindly point out that if Phaneuf got ****ing owned on 2 game changing goals like Kronwall did tonight (beasted by Kadri leading to the rush on the opener, and then pick pocketed by Bozak for the winner), there would be a string of posts talking about how he wasn't a #1, should be stripped of the C so it can be handed to anyone not him and how he's not even remotely as good as all of the defenders that the numbers say he's just as good as.

Now let the "but Jurco beat him to the net by a half step and was able to get one hand on a deflection attempt" rebuttals begin.

A two game winning streak and now there is complaining about I don't even know what.

Another good game. That goal by Holland was sweet. He totally manhandled Nyqyuist at both ends of the ice. First Nyquist was trying to be fancy at the Leafs blueline and the Leafs D backed off of him and gave him a ton of ice. But he was being an idiot with the puck, you don't back off. Holland just took away his ice and easily got the puck, then dropped the shoulder into him at the other end to protect the puck. Just an awesome goal that came directly from playing good D.

One thing I've liked is that they had a 90 min practice to address things and now they had two days of optional skates. And you can see randy was hesitant. But the athletes know what to do. And it seems to be working.

I've also been up north for the past four days at Kearney ( for all you Scarborough kids) with me grade 6 students so I don't know what the hell is going on with this salute gate but it sounds like the media is going loopy looking for shit to start. Get used to it. The attitude towards this team is toxic on a lot of levels.

Since they opened the season 2-3-1, they're 9-5-1. A pace of 104 points and you would swear, by the reactions of people and the media, that they were a ****ing basement team chasing McDavid.

I'll just be happy when it's no longer a topic of discussion.

I mean, the Leafs just bounced back from two of their worst games in years with tremendous back-to-back performances against two strong division rivals (that both happen to be ahead of us in the standings), and the media's and MLBJB's still mostly talking about this nonsense. It's ridiculous.

Leafs now on pace for just shy of 94 points and have 16th best record in league at quarter-way point.

Have said this a few times, but Leafs record looks sustainable. 10 times more so than last year's at this point anyway. PDO is only 100.4.

Kicker is, it's more than sustainable, it's actually a bit unkind. They've had a strong SOS and haven't received the type of goaltending you would expect overall.

Berniers SV% is inching closer to .920, now at .919

Yep, but does anyone really expect reimer to finish the season with a .898?

I think we can reasonably expect both goalies to be better than what they've offered so far. good sign.

Get used to it. The attitude towards this team is toxic on a lot of levels.

Since they opened the season 2-3-1, they're 9-5-1. A pace of 104 points and you would swear, by the reactions of people and the media, that they were a ****ing basement team chasing McDavid.

Given the multiple consecutive late season meltdowns, and 1967, I don't think anybody is overreacting here.
Some of the media may be, but they always do.

All of that stuff has 0 to do with the 2 games that some people were over reacting to.

Yep bringing that up is pointless.

Nah it's fair game to look back at 40+ years of futility and be slightly annoyed when things appear to not be improving. It's just as fair as the pollyanna side, imho. Plus in our case, an online message board is a pretty great venting tool.

I've followed this team since the 80s. I can react however I want at this point, pretty much.

I don't bother complaining about fan anger anymore, because I get it.

but still that doesn't change that stupid is as stupid does. anger doesn't justify stupidity.

I have to admit, I sort of tune people out whenever I hear them mention "1967" in the context of today's team's struggles.

Sure, the drought sucks, but if we're talking about the problems with the current team, management or ownership, the entire 47 year drought just isn't relevant to the discussion. In that time, we've had five different ownership groups, and who knows how many Presidents, GMs, coaches and players.

Since Dave Nonis is still officially GM, the six years since he and Burke came to town are fair game for discussion. If we're talking about Randy Carlyle or the current group of players, the playoff meltdown against the Bruins and the 18-wheeler off a cliff last year are both relevant, since the core group is pretty much intact and Carlyle was behind the bench for both.

Anything else is just white noise.

That's what's doing it for me.

I've been posting here or some form of this board since I was 13 years old. I get that teams have ups and downs. I've posted through that. But I've watched this team do the things LeafGM just posted and there's something about this team that really nags at me even when the team strings together a winning streak. I guess I just don't trust them anymore. And losing 6-2 to Buffalo and then following it right up with the 9-2 game just reminds me of that little voice in my head telling me not to trust this group under this coach. It's not the two games alone and it's not 1967.

No that's a valid point as well. I see both sides of the issue. But you gotta admit, a fairly anonymous online message board is going to be a pretty perfect outlet for venting. It's not always going to be logical venting.

Well, just like the Leafs players and management are easy targets for the media - we fans are asked to answer for the Kessel trades, playoff droughts, lop-sided losses. Eventually, you hope, it all pays off - but it's been a brutally bumpy ride post-lockout.
