Trudeau said Trump 'very supportive' of Keystone XL pipeline

I thought Justin was "Mr. Climate Change" in Canada.

oh he still is. It's just that he see's the short term benefit (imo, re-election) of the XL pipeline for the time being.

Trudeau said if the United States takes a step back on fighting climate change under Trump, Canada will capitalize.

Climate change is a fact and fighting it is where the rest of the world is going, he said.

And while there might be short-term benefit in ignoring it now, he said, if Canada sticks to its plan, the country will be attractive to investors who are looking decades down the road.

Justin also agreed to block future Arctic drilling. Complimenting Obama's announcement to do the same with another executive action on his way out the door. Not sure how this plays out. Perhaps in the courts.

Obama Blocks Offshore Driling In Arctic, Atlantic Oceans

Environmentalists supported Obama’s November leasing plan, but many said he needed to go further and block drilling in the Atlantic and Arctic Oceans once and for all.

And here lies the rub: after he takes office, Donald Trump will likely undo the 2017-2022 leasing plan, although it could be a lengthy process. But it’s unclear how Trump could undo Obama's Tuesday announcement: The White House said no previous president has tried to undo a drilling withdrawal under the 1953 law, and that there is no provision to do so.

thanks Obama!
