I'm a little surprised Rosen's getting another crack at it in the NHL already, much less in a game against a team like Washington. I really don't see why we don't have this guy working out the kinks in the AHL instead.

The Caps still have 2 sick lines and a great goalie, so they can win any game, but at the moment their bottom 6 and defense corps are disastrous. Losing this one would be a huge dissappointment.

Legend:

Letter Grades = Quality of Competition measured by opponents' time on ice, Converted into Letter Grades for simplicity
p60 = points per 60 minutes
xGF% = Expected Goals For Percentage (i.e. shot attempt percentage adjusted for shot quality) - this stat is already adjusted for zone deployment and game score
rel = xgf% relative to team - also already adjusted for zone and score

(as per corsica, all stats other than ice time do not include empty net situations.)

Caps on little slump after crazy start so it can be good for us or bad.
And Mitch on 4-th line one of the ways to prove that tool is a tool and JVR is slow,so poor Brown will play role of lab rat.

I would love to see Marner and JVR with a different center than Bozak.

Exactly what was suggested earlier - have Kadri play with them.

I wouldn't be surprised if everyone's opinions of their defensive play would change.

yeah I do think bozie is the bigger problem. Tough because there's always an eye on trade value, but I'd love to see babs get mad enough at bozie to demote him to the 4th line during a game instead of one of the kids.

Hyman - Matthews - Marner
Marleau - Nylander - Brown
VanRyk - Kadri - Komarov

Jvr looked like a floating bitch on kadris wing when he's played there in the past too.

Marner at least had something of an engine though so I wouldn't be surprised if he looked better defensively with naz but jvr is a lost cause away from the puck at this point. It's not his centre, it's him.

I think there's going to be a fair amount of up and down this season, either way though, as rough as he's looked it's only a couple games.

Back-to-back game here - so I would guess that Rosen/Moore get in tonight with Borgman/Fehr rotating in tomorrow.

It could easily be 4-0 Leafs already.

Which means the Caps will score first. I've been watching hockey for a long time and I've seen this movie before.

amazing how much better Marner looks when he's on a line with 2 players who actually move their feet and work. Bozak-JVR have spent more time in our zone than any other line.
